  • That's not how the fediverse works, posts don't get "promoted". The standard is usually chronological sorting, because there aren't quite enough posts to make sorting by popularity productive for longer sessions of scrolling. And sorting by popularity is still a far cry from the algorithmic bs that's standard for commercial social media.

  • Rich people don't actually need more money, it's fundamentally about being above common people (i.e. power). If AI can cater to their every need, they don't need to have more money than a 2010s billionaire who still had to pay people for goods and services.

  • True, it's usually 7,5h work days if you're not doing overtime or part time.

  • Where do you live? In Germany it's common to work only 8 hours on a work day. I've had jobs in software development where you had flexible enough times that you could choose to work 9-17:00, though flexible times isn't quite what "9 to 5 job" implies.

  • Mint

  • Seems like this really depends on the local climate, or maybe we just don't get the right type of mint here. All the actual weeds (i.e. plants that we don't want to grow) seem to shake down mint for its lunch money.

A garden full of mint would be julep heaven!

  • yeah

  • "lesbian" inherently couples gender identity and sexual preference, no? Language and identity are certainly malleable, but it would be news to me than "lesbian" got the "gay" treatment (where the meaning did change from "homosexual man" to "homosexual or bisexual", depending on the social circle).

  • Pretty sure their sexual (or gender) identity is "woman". The trans thing is usually more a stumbling block than an identity.

  • Should be asking why they were even attending it in the first place. War crime enablers.

  • I live in Germany, too and have never seen or heard of that kind of vandalism. So, very localized issue.

  • There are already tons of solar panels on private homes here, I've never heard of anyone trying to destroy them for copper.

  • Where do you live? I haven't seen anything like that here, even though we do still have vandalism. I don't think it's a good idea to generalize from the sorry state of things in your area.

  • Who tf breaks car park roofs?

  • Cover the car parks, make private cars obsolete, turn car parks into fields

  • Yes, women can be lesbians.

  • It's vexing from a design standpoint, and TBH my sleep rhythm is bad enough that I do have an issue with it sometimes.

  • I truly hate those that just throw discarded “prillor”, used tobacco, on the ground, but that has been reduced a lot since the pouches now often come with a space to discard used ones. And at least i don’t have to breath in someone’s snus. So it doesn’t affect me.

Weak argument anyway, I doubt "prillor" is worse than the cigarette butts that most smokers throw on the ground without a second thought if there's no ashtray nearby.

  • Not much of an improvement over the standard design. I already know that the clockhand pointing to 1 means that it's either 1 am or 13 o'clock/1 pm, but it still doesn't tell me unambiguously which one it is.

  • 24-hour-clock being a military thing is kind of a USA-thing anyway, in many other countries it's just normal.

I wish there was a more practical way to have an analog 24-hour-clock, a clockface with 24 numbers is kinda hard to read.
