  • Not much of an improvement over the standard design. I already know that the clockhand pointing to 1 means that it's either 1 am or 13 o'clock/1 pm, but it still doesn't tell me unambiguously which one it is.

  • 24-hour-clock being a military thing is kind of a USA-thing anyway, in many other countries it's just normal.

I wish there was a more practical way to have an analog 24-hour-clock, a clockface with 24 numbers is kinda hard to read.

  • Don't think I've ever actually said it, but I definitely think "el-mao".

  • I don't think the Vatikan's forces can really be called an "army", they're about large enough to quell a medium-sized riot.

  • It also works if your opponent cares about the opinions of other countries or possibly whatever amount of conscience is left at home. AFAIK that's how India gained its independence from Britain. Doesn't work with aggressive (wannabe-)conquerors like Russia, China or USA, though.

  • Good for him if true. Let's hope he keeps up whatever he's doing to stay "kinda chill" (I assume it's "taking his meds").

  • White is pretty fly usually. Hard to care for, though, all my mostly-white tshirts are in the back of by cupboard with a yellowed collar that I don't know how to fix (if I bleached the fuck out of them, the design on the front would be toast).

  • IMO he's a super talented producer, even if some of his samples are recognizable if you listen to the original songs. But he should never have been allowed in front of a microphone.

  • At that point, he had already publicly endorsed Trump several times.

  • 4chan poster not beating the nazi allegations

  • "you should just roll over and let yourself get conquered"

And it's not like most EU-countries are truly hurting for money, they just refuse to tax their super rich.

  • I'd say aim at the back wall, but way down so it still hits the wall at an angle. And don't pull back your foreskin, pulling it back makes the stream harder and thus results in more splashback (I assume this isn't useful advice if you're circumcised). But TBH I don't like urinals, when possible I use a stall and sit down unless it's obviously dirty.

  • Or maybe it's just cultural differences with a pinch of autism. TBH I'm not quite clear on how "Dutch" the guy in OP's story is or where this even takes place, but AFAIK this would be completely normal behavior among friends and acquaintances in the Netherlands.

  • All canals? Many canals are ship routes, you can't drive a barge through 3 foot deep canals.

  • Therefore also making it hard to control & steal

Eh. I suppose it made Norway exploit it later than other countries that had easily accessible oilfields, which gave them the opportunity to develop a more egalitarian society before the influx of fossil fuel money. But if you wanted to sieze these nowadays, it's arguably easier for the types of countries who might attempt it - on land, you can defend by tank and artillery and the terrain is difficult to reach as long as Sweden and Finland are allied with Norway, while on the sea you just need to send an aircraft carrier and take a couple of exposed spots in the sea and at the coast.

  • Some countries do well with it, like Norway. The probabilities aren't looking good for these types of resources, though.

On the other hand, arable land and forest is harder to control by just a few people and thus usually a net positive for the population.

  • I doubt that whether a naked body is "shockingly disgusting" plays a role in most countries' laws ...

Also, where? In a lot of countries, laws around nakedness aren't even consistent between internal regional subdivisions.

  • holy shit

  • The company, which is owned by the private equity firm Blackstone, touts a “closed‑loop” cooling system, which it says does not consume water for cooling. Like a laptop or cellphone, the chips housed in data centers can easily overheat — generally requiring a lot of water to cool them.

The company said its water consumption was so high last year because of temporary construction-related activities, such as concrete work, dust control and site preparation.

I've never heard of water shortages due to construction needing so much. WTH are they doing on those sites if what Blackrock says is true?
