  • Well, Twitter is a lot larger than Reddit, so more people were involved, but Mastodon was actually a lot (250x) larger than Lemmy before the exodus, so while Mastodon only increased its user count 4-5x, Lemmy is already past the 10x mark and the exodus has barely begun!

  • There is not a single Reddit, but there's a single Fediverse, offering a single alternative to every social media. And it's growing faster than ever. We shall win!

  • Can't find anything about that over on GitHub, sorry...

  • If the site is not federated, it's not possible to leave it without also leaving all its content behind.

  • Well, there are not many details to share anyway (registration is just username/password, e-mail is optional). And since everything is federated, they'd need to bring down all of Lemmy, which may not even be possible for them due to different instances being hosted in different countries.

  • Nah it's great to have all of you here <3 I literally screenshot the (presemably) last time a post of mine actually went to the top haha. As long as users from the soon-to-blackout r/PCM don't start flame wars with lemmygrad, all will be okay.

  • Well, when the Twitter exodus happened, I too feared that the (4-5x!) increase in traffic would quickly come down. It's been several months and Mastodon is still just as strong!

  • No idea at all... To be clear though, I wasn't bipolar or paranoid before that, that was 100% my fault.

  • Mint, Manjaro and Gentoo atm.

  • Mint, Manjaro and Gentoo atm.

  • I've been upvoting every comment and thread since I joined lol. Now for the first time it's actually becoming harder to keep track of them!

  • Well, the software they run is different. The frontend looks different, etc. Lemmy can connect with kbin, as well as Mastodon, so it's just one big network at the end of the day.

  • Hahaha nice, made me exhale

  • They've truly fucked up by messing with the few users like you that basically hold the site together. Welcome, and remember to spend time doing healthy activities, will you? ;)

  • Holy shit that's amazing! I really need to step up my game.

  • The admin from lemmy.directory actually stated that his instance tries to fetch all communities from everywhere in order to build a directory, it's not meant as an actual, general instance.

  • True, it's not a good method for small communities, especially if you are in a smaller instance. It's enough tho for popular communities.

  • Here, although if/once your instance has fetched enough communities, you'll be able to see them by selecting 'All' in 'Communities'.

  • I've had a great time on Lemmy since I joined over 2y ago. But well, can't keep all the fun to ourselves, right? :) Now this place is all yours too. Welcome aboard!
