  • I agree it looks a little strange when we're used to seeing email IDs, but Mastodon uses the same username format so there is a precedent. It might be too difficult to change such a fundamental feature in Lemmy at this point to make it worthwhile.

  • Don't worry, everyone is still new to Lemmy! It's a community in its infancy, still growing and learning how to interact. You're getting in at what is essentially the beginning, and over time people will develop the unspoken rules and etiquette that other sites have developed over years. It's an exciting time!

  • I discovered that if I deselect Undetermined as a language for my community, then I can't post using Jerboa ("error: language not allowed"). Apparently that is the language Jerboa uses by default, probably some other apps too.

  • Same. I use Xubuntu on my media server where I only occasionally need a GUI, but for the past few years I've been using KDE/Kubuntu as my daily driver and I enjoy it. It just works.
