It's sad, I agree. But I do feel that snowball started to roll. Can't predict how big it will get in the end, but I can't imagine Europe will continue with this bullshit forever. I feel something has permanently broken.
it's pretty easy to see the days of the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency are numbered. This will crush the U.S. economy for decades.
I think you're right on the first part, so I don't expect the US economy to recover to it's current strength in just a few decades. It might have major ramifications for US businesses in the short term too. Microsoft taking away that judges email has definitely put more urgency behind the concept of digital sovereignty, but I can't imagine that's already visible in data on the US economy. I expect this snowball is actually still very small compared to what it can become.
So first the promises made by brexiteers turned out to be unrealistic, then the warnings made by remain turned out to be right. Can't say I'm surprised. Hang in there Brits <3
I don't want to disagree, but sanctioning China will likely have serious long term consequences for the west. Also will only be effective if it is both EU as a whole + US. Would be the right thing to do I guess, but will not be pretty.
Yes, if my discounted year would end today I would not renew it. Back then I thought I might want to upgrade to the full plan after a year but now I've come to think it might be better to get these services from a bunch of different companies instead of one all-inclusive package. Maybe I'll takr the effort and switch to Tuta mail. Or maybe I'll just downgrade back to the free plan. Not sure yet.
From now until September 30, Proton is offering Swiss businesses impacted by the hammer of US tariffs a 100% discount on Proton service. For everyone else in Switzerland — individuals and organizations who want to stop sending Swiss money to US tech giants — we’re offering 39% off Proton services.
It's like the trolley problem, only instead of pulling a lever it is wearing a suit. Seems to me he chose for the lowest amount of casualties. Fuck Trump for forcing his hand, but I'm not mad at Z
Is it too simplistic to say Russia was a colonial power just like most other European powers? Or is expanding to land that borders too different from taking land far away?
I was relieved when I learned NL is opposing, but to be fair I was also a bit surprised. Don't think there is a good reason to be in favour of chat control, but kind of expect it from VVD, PVV and BBB anyway. They might even already want to expand it beyond child abuse to also include money launderers, immigrants and climate change protesters.
Happen to see a video bloomberg made on how this will effect Swatch Group. According to them the high-end brands will be fine because their customers are able to swallow the increased prices where as mid- and bottom-tier brands will likely suffer greatly because they're already in a shrinking market.
For anyone anyone interested, these brands are part of swatch group:
