  • Ecelent explanation. This is my biggest issue with Fair Phone actually. They didn't make a proper ecosystem where the parts are interchangeable between models. They made the production more fair and repairable which, dont get me wrong, is a really good thing, but I really wish they be more like framework where a main board from the newest 13 inch laptop still fits in the old chassis from many years ago, and the hardware follows standards so they can be easily interchanged.

  • I think I'd be convicted of assisted murder...

  • 5 min later I'd be on the bed too, not jumping, sleeping!

  • Hmm maybe that's why my chromecast has been crashing with YouTube (SmartTube) the past 1-2 days?

I should probably have read the article more carefully and seen that the bug is irrelevant to SmartTube, since its a web ui interface bug and not a video playback interface bug

  • I think you misunderstand. Ive never had issues actually falling a sleep. When I do go to bed i fall asleep within 10 minutes most of the time. Absolutely no problem. I love going to bed early. But its about actually doing it, that is so hard. like asking an ADHD person why they don't just do the laundry that's been sitting there for weeks. Its not hard to fold and put away but starting the task feels impossible. I think that in the evening my meds are mostly out of my system and I'm tired so my willpower is really low. When I say my brain goes through a million things its not that it keeps me awake, but it paralyses me to take any actions on going to bed (or any other activity for that matter, like reading or doing some of my small projects)

  • Yeah as if I didn't try that... I have timers on my phone for bed time, I have BW AND night light filter on my phone. Also i don't watch YT on my phone but exclusively on the TV in the living room. Also, trying to read a book while tired makes me super uncomfortable since focusing on lines of text is really hard with ADHD and my brain wonders away on a million other things and I generally dont enjoy reading. It takes a lot of effort. Having the TV on at least forces my brain to stay on to only one single thing instead of a million.

It's not about what to do because I'm very fucking well aware of what to do but its about actually doing it that feels impossible.

  • I told my doctor I have difficulties going to bed at good time and have a hard time turning my brain off. She just gave me a piece of paper with some recommendations for better sleep like "dont drink coffee late" or "dont use screen or TV an hour before bed"... Like as if I didn't know that already but my fat ass just sits here doing nothing while my brain screams "JUST DO SOMETHING FFS!!!" While i watch YouTube video number 258 this evening and its midnight and I'm trying not understanding why I can't just go to bed....

  • I hope it also means less AI and those crazy Hyper data centers. Just trying to spin a positive view on this.

  • I guest that just makes for an even worse case for face scans than genitals scans. But if genitals scans are linked with name and address (because of cause they would be right) Im not sure what is worse then.

  • Alternative ending: "Now pull down your pants in front of this camera so we can use an AI algorithm to identify your gender. Don't worry, the software is approved by the govonment and the pictures are processed by secure servers...... Few days layer news headline: Big data breach, thousands of secure photos leaked"

Basically same as age verification photo scans at this point.

  • 6 DAYS!! Those are rookie numbers

  • my concern is that we’re just generating more waste and raising costs.

I dont think you should worry about that. Having batteries glued in makes for worse recycling than removable batteries. glued Batteries causes a lot of issues in ewaste recycling and loss of rare metals. Easily removable batteries makes for a higher chance of recycling said batteries and actually lithium batteries are highly recyclable, so much so that raw materials made from recycled batteries is of higher quality than mined materials because they are more pure to begin with.

Properly recycling batteries separately is always better than ewasted batteries.

  • Anyone who knows if I can migrate a huge old light room library. I closed my subscription about 3 years ago and my library has just been sitting there since. All my eddits should be saved in sidecar files but there is probably other stuff saved in the library that could be useful. I tried darktables back then, but I kinda dropped photography as a hobby so never looked much into it. I want to pick it up again some time soon tho

  • I'm sorry but that's a pretty useless achievement. Its like saying that an ebike is way faster in tour de France. What am I supposed to use it for. Pizza delivery? Maybe someone can enlightenment me.

  • You can make Thunderbird search work!? Tell me your secretes because Thunderbird can never find anything for me other than all the wrong things.

  • search in Thunderbird is worse than windows search tbh. It can't find anything and even when its right there among the first few emails.

  • If only they would obliterate Facebook then! Facebook is notorious for doing this when getting to forum posts from google and I'm trying to go back to google, and it it pisses me off.

  • I installed OpenWrt on a pi once and the SD card corrupted all the time so I had to give up. Anyone who knows how to prevent that, because I actually have a new use case I need it for and I'm hesitating because of the trouble. I need it for a WiFi wireguard bridge
