  • I know this is a shitpost but this perfectly catches one of the challenges of autism.

Yes, it happens. And er have tolerance, be authentic, diversity and all that but when it happens there is none of what I just listed.

The conversation partner will be hurt and/or angry. Or you mask it and damage (up to and including measurable health damage) yourself.

    Sucks.

  • It's a neurodivergent thing, I often ask and say things outside of social habits. Also I don't need the answer nor does it mean anything to me to be blunt, uh, again.

  • Are you really narcissistic or did someone just say you are (rhetorical question for yourself, not the internet)?

If you really are, congratulations, knowing and admitting is a huge thing!

Listen to the other advice, ask a professional.

  • The risk of one of the motors not behaving as expected. Yes I am aware they're very reliable but I have also been close to software development and that's where my doubts come from.

But maybe they're unfounded, that's why I am asking and also being surprised in trying to update my foundation with knowledge and people downvote on that.

  • This is fine.

  • Hm, I have the feeling I said something wrong? In any case, no offense was intended.

  • Good to hear and I understand electric motors but being in IT I have a special perspective on failures. And I'd rather have an axle suddenly accelerate /decelerate instead of one wheel.

  • Of course you can do neat things but I've seen so much technical failure in my life that I believe I would not want to risk this setup.

  • Interesting to hear and yes of course it's possible and I believe the simple thing but not it being worth the risk. Yet at least.

  • Oh I can assure you it's real. But it's easy to see, even trump follows (followed - now he doesn't need to anymore) this logic.

Its not funny if you have a pathological narcissist in your vicinity.

  • No, I might be behind the times on this but usually you power axles, do you not (really naively asking)?

I would imagines any disruptions only affecting one wheel instead of axle being rather catastrophic. The brakes are also always set up in a way that you don't brake on one wheel only even if it's damaged.

So uncoupling all 4 wheels seems like a really really bad idea. Of course you can compensate this electronically, but that will work about sd well as the Boeing 737 max with its issues. There are physical things you should not mess with.

But maybe as I said I am behind the times and with electric cars that's normal now to power wheels (l/r) separately?

  • Nobody commenting on

The Luce runs with a Ferrari-made electric motor on each wheel

I do not see any scenario where this could go wrong. Oh wait...

  • And yet, they have not created the AI that could do without it. Any day now, promise!

  • I'm not judging. Just advising 😁. And nobody needs to listen. But those who do might have a greater chance of keeping things in good condition

Edit: wow, downvote to a neutral statement burns.

  • Exactly, there's a reason why some people break their stuff all the time and some don't.

But that's okay. Man forges his own destiny.

  • You do you, I can only recommend not doing that.

  • Do rush hour for 10 years in Munich with public transport (where you have to change transport method. Critical.) and you might think different.

If not, you might be more resilient than many of us are. If not for the space, involuntary body contact, temperatures (hot or cold, or maybe even nicely moist), the smells and sounds or the sudden required changes of plan and unreliability it can be nice, but rarely during rush hour. Over decades no progress has been made and the collapse has long happened. We're just chugging through, nevermind the method of transport.

  • From an IT view I can only strongly recommend against doing that. Unexpected things happen all the time and you don't get coolness points for doing this.

    Just carry it safe.

Also, from a user perspective moving to a new device at least costs time.

You're also lucky you can rely on your muscles and nervous system. I regrettably don't have that luxury which adds to the risk.

  • Well yeah, but she won't care then either.
