  • You can always use hardware cheats. You can use a second device to read memory and video feed, then pass back ESP information directly onto the monitor, or even control inputs.

    I wouldn't be surprised if such devices are already available for mainstream consumers. Kernel-level anticheat is a joke.

  • I have spent way too much time fiddling with audio, both in PulseAudio and Pirewire. Granted, this sucks even more on Windows.

    Weird how my absolute favorite thing about Linux is how easy and simple installing software is, at least on Arch. Never touched a flatpack or snap or whatever else they're called for my 13+ years if use.

    The general advice is that handpicking updates from main repos is a big no-no. There are only a couple of reasons you would ever need that, like updating archlinux-keyring on a very outdated system.

    Even on my 13 year old install with many thousands of packages, it's not hard to spot if anything is out of the ordinary when doing huge upgrades. You should pay attention.

    That being said, I often just do pacman -Syu --noconfirm && poweroff these days. It's so rare that anything breaks and I can very easily fix it if it does.
