  • I just go with the excuse that I'm getting into character (I'm playing a barbarian).

  • If you live off your capital you love ai because you get more of the pie.

While willfully ignoring the upcoming rug pull once AI becomes too entrenched to decouple and the providers jack up the price a hundredfold. Hell, some of them have already begun the process and CEOs still haven't noticed the noose they're tying around their own necks.

  • Jetbrains being amazing as usual. Their tools are the best in the business. There are entire languages that are only usable because of their work.

I just wish they hadn't gone all-in on AI. I know it was either that or lose IDE market share, but they should at least have made the AI features opt-in.

  • Master Oogway had some serious skeletons in his closet for his next reincarnation to end up like this.

  • If you ever want to see a group of educated adults struggle with basic addition and subtraction, join a game of Dungeons and Dragons. I swear all math skills vanish the moment you have an audience.

  • They're called "line" cooks for a reason!

  • C# has faster execution speed compared to GDScript, but Godot needs to marshal data when communicating between the core engine and the C# runtime, which can negatively affect performance if you don't keep it in mind when writing your code.

But ultimately I'd argue compilation speed is waaay more important than execution speed when it comes to creating games (which require rapid iteration and testing). There's only a small amount of code in a codebase where squeezing out the maximum performance is required, and those important bottlenecks can be refactored or rewritten in a more performant language if needed.

  • It would also be the natural resting spot for a bloodpack you're palming to hide while cutting it open. It's just so hard to ignore how unrealistic a cut choice it is once you notice and think for a second.

  • Please be good.

  • The first Destiny is still playable? Is it worth picking up? I don't think I've heard a single mention of it since the sequel came out.

I was completely lost in Destiny 2 due to starting after they cut out half the story content. Would playing the first game help at all, or is too much just gone forever now?

  • I'm guessing it's due to Unity firing up a full modern toolchain during compilation versus GDScript's simpler bespoke compiler.

It would have been a better comparison if he'd used C# for both games, given Godot supports it as an alternate to GDScript.

  • And someone will have to insert malware into GitHub releases from inside the system to make opensource people leave.

And even that wouldn't be enough for some of them, given SourceForge's continued existence.

  • Rimworld couldn't make the meeting due to an outstanding warrant from the ICC.

  • That poor, foolish bartender going for the palm. That's an area that moves and flexes constantly. It'll make doing his job a nightmare until it heals!

  • Yeah, but that was so last quarter. Now they need to look good for investors again!

  • Aren't the book rights a tangled mess and future productions are only allowed to use things from the trilogy plus appendices? I remember that being the excuse for the show not following the Silmarillion canon, but it'll suck if there's this big open-world game but it's limited to the stuff we've seen a hundred times already.

  • Sadly not working with a payment processor is a much bigger liability. It's nearly impossible to sell things online without one, and there are only a few choices due to how hard it is to get a new one off the ground (you need experts in financial regulation for every area you serve, and finance laws can vary widely even between neighboring cities, let alone countries). This lack of other options gives payment processors an outsized influence on the businesses they serve.

  • Core memory unlocked. Back at my first job we would prank each other by queueing that song on the lobby speakers whenever the current cashier wasn't looking. That and the cat flushing a toilet song.

Good times, thanks for the nostalgia trip!
