  • I knew a couple that did this. Neither of them changed their names when they got married, and both their names were just weird. They wanted more professional-sounding names, FWIW.

I somewhat agree to explore the un-messed up spelling, but can see how that might not work. My friends just dug through family histories until they found one they liked. Settled on Snook. Worked for them.

Starting from scratch, I would start with syllables first to see what fits. It's either you want a mirroring of the syllables of the first name if you want something formidable and important-sounding, or a single syllable that is a stark punctuation if it suits you more.

    A few examples:

2-syllable names might do better with 1 or 2 syllables - Maureen Star, Maureen Wright. Maureen Harper, Maureen Rivers flow well.

3 syllable names might work with up to 3 - Meredith Mackenzie. Meredith Lancaster.

You might also want a "job name" as other suggested as they are sort of ethnically neutral (other than being English) - many 2 syllables. Taylor, Harper, Archer, Tanner, Hunter, Sawyer, Driver, Wainwright, etc.

Or something you like in nature - Rivers, Forester, Woods, Fields, Bay, Mariner

If you go for 1 syllable, make it a word people know that pops. Knox. Hale. Quinn. Snow. Stone. Frost. Hart. Steele. Black. Night. Day.

Also, search online first to make sure that no one with the same name is a serial killer or something.

    Best of luck!

  • Why is it so common to display these things in the "eating a watermelon whole" jaw pose?

  • JFC, literally throwing good money after bad.

Enjoy your third lawsuit, lawyers for E. Jean Carroll.

  • That's what they expect, and then forget that there's not 40,000 rich people willing to sit in the cheap seats in a stadium in Kansas City.

  • The scale is off by orders of magnitude is the thing. Germany is the size of Wisconsin. Texas is slightly larger than France. Can Germany or France host the whole-ass World Cup by themselves? Sure can. Easily. Can Texas? Hell no. Even if just California hosted, that would make sense (with high-speed rail).

  • Once you actually get in it depends entirely on where they are and what they're doing. Having people there already would be much better than trying to navigate anything themselves. That keeps them within a bubble where they know people that know people, can keep them out of anywhere bad, and help with communication. Tourist sites will be generally accommodating if they go to them. Florida has tons of tourists all the time thanks to Disneyworld, so it's not like he's the first person ever to travel there.

Generally speaking, people are nice and willing to help, unless you're driving a car or in a Wal-Mart in a deep-red state.

  • Baby don't hurt me,

    No more.

  • I can't figure out who actually thought any of this was a good idea other than marketing people and idiots who never planned to attend any of it. It's phenomenally punitive to fans.

Short of having a private jet, who is going to more than 2 or 3 games? Who is honestly expected to just scamper around a region of a whole continent, then criss-cross a whole continent, to support their country other than people paid to by their country's Ministry of Sport or something similar to attend every game? People who follow sports teams around the US during a season of anything are an infinitely tiny group.

Like a team outside of your small Group stage? Fuck you, the games are 4000km apart. Instead of enjoying games for the game itself, you can only be a nationalist.

If the winner of Group H gets to the final (lol) they will have gone from playing a territory spanning Atlanta to Jalisco, then literally bouncing back and forth between the West Coast and Texas until heading to NJ. They might have flown enough miles to circle the globe by the time they're done.

What city will see even a notably economic benefit from what amounts to 6 weeks of highly compressed MLS setup? The only thing that's concentrated here is taking expensive flights. Everything else is diluted to the point of being worthless.

This whole Cup should be considered a human rights abuse, by all accounts.

  • A few thousand people minimum - a zoo that has a gorilla really ought to have enough visits and regulars that know Hidden Harambe's name the way that I know the name of some sea lion at my local zoo because it's on ads when I drive by.

  • People that try to run scams often fall under the same profile as people that steal for the thrill of it. It's all about pulling one over on someone else, and the bonus is you get money out of the effort.

Trump gets paid a living wage, yet he still scams everyone on Earth. So right there your theory falls apart.

  • Is there a Kalshi bet about how long before a false flag thing happens in Germany?

  • Big question is what is "too hot"? Croatia or Turkey in June would be toasty. You can also look at the Aegean side of Greece. Beyond being hot, June and August both are when these places empty out or get absolutely filled up for the summer. Personally, I would suggest looking more around the Balkans and seeing if there's something you like and renting a car to drive between places. Beaches in NE Greece, hot springs in Bulgaria? Beaches in Montenegro, shopping in Belgrade? You get that Ottoman history anywhere you go. Maybe look at flying into one city and flying out of another.

Turkey is solid, but beaches might be some internal flights or long drives from IST. Just beware of scams and hustles from every direction.

Scotland in June is beautiful, the question would be if you can actually find a place to stay. It's a short summer so things book up quickly and expensively. Water is always freezing.

Dominican Republic on the Semana peninsula? Panama?

  • How close is it? You can take it into a hat store with a steamer and have them resize it.
