Did you know? In Catwoman's very first appearance, Batman manhandles her, scrubs the makeup off her face, and threatens to paddle her bottom.

I mean, yikes..?

I first shared that at !comicstripedits@lemmy.world, where we take classic comics and edit them in to ridiculous new shizzle. I really did believe it was someone's edit, at first, but NOPE-- it turned out to be almost impossibly, improbably authentic.

Bottom line? There's never been a proper explanation, body of behavior (on Batman's part) or even cultural context to explain why he blurted out "quiet, or papa spank!"

So, another mystery for the ages, I suppose...
