  • So his lawyer pinky promises he was horrifically beat up, but was just too noble to press charges? lol

So this dude is absolutely awful and deserves all the hate he’s getting but there was video of the beat down (lemme try and find it, one sec). It isn’t worth pressing charges because no one in Hawaii will ever convict the perpetrator. It would be political suicide for a prosecutor to even try to advance a case. I think a local politician (state senator? Mayor?) even commended the guy.

ETA: found it! Apologies for the shit source (YouTube & NY Post) but it also includes video of the state senator giving a commendation with a delightfully amused attorney in the background

  • Similarly, don’t expect much help with history questions in pub quiz from someone with a history degree.

“You have a whole ass degree, why can’t you tell me when Garfield was president!!?!?!??”

“It’s not like that … my thesis was on medieval crop rotation “

  • Total cost of employment is something like 140-160% of salary for a software dev. So my super handwavy half pulled out of my ass math puts it closer to 20 jr. engineers.

  • No. But it still isn’t good.

I would like to live in a world where people can vote for a viable candidate who doesn’t support genocide AND who doesn’t support putting anyone in concentration camps.

Are you familiar with the candidate? Were those statements some kind of hyperbole? I can see someone casually saying “all those ICE pigs need to be thrown in alligator Alcatraz” but that would an incredibly flippant public statement from a real political candidate. Supporting Israel isn’t illegal. It’s immoral and wrong but I’m not gonna support throwing people in concentration camps for their awful opinions.

  • Yikes! Thanks for posting the details. That’s a whole ball of WTF.

ETA: I do like the idea of locking up ICE agents, but only ones found guilty of crimes. But I’m just picking corn out of a turd

  • I’m not creating an account to read the article. Are any details provided about what “extreme antisemitic views” were expressed ? The accusation of “attacks on Jewish and pro-Israel Americans and U.S. support for Israel” makes me curious because there is a lot of conflation of these distinct things lately. It is possible to want Jewish people to be healthy and thriving without supporting Netanyahu’s policies and without wanting to give Israel unconditional aid.

  • Yes because no one gets promoted for just fixing bugs and keeping things rock solid and stable.

  • Did a double take to check if this was NotTheOnion. Honestly, Intuit is such a garbage company, hopefully this misstep will hamstring them financially so they stop lobbying against easy tax filing and slows them enough for viable Quickbooks contenders to get a foothold.

  • But do they have to perturb the UI and fuck up my muscle memory every damn time?

  • So he’s just confirming that he pays way too little? If one of the richest people in the world would have zero impact doubling their taxes then the taxes are outrageously low, right?

Like we all know this but it’s nice to see him admit it (even if he’s smug about it). And IDK why he thinks doubling is some wildly high threshold. Assuming he pays more than zero, I’m sure the population would be happy to keep hitting him with exponential increases until morale improves.

They’ve forgotten that taxes were the compromise

  • USA is also a democracy

    Is it though?

  • I don’t have 1st hand experience but I’ve seen in the news that UK businesses have been hit economically because imports and exports between the UK and the EU have more taxes and regulations. I’ve also seen news stories of British retirees in Spain shocked and appalled that they now need visas and may or may not qualify.

  • Whatever happened to that lawsuit where Drake accused Spotify if doing this for Kendrik?

  • This looks fire. I think I’ll try it in a few days.

If I need a little oomph while cooking at home I know gochujang, tahini, and miso paste have my back.

  • Maybe they should have made the effort to figure out what users actually want before shoving the half baked OS down everyone’s throats?

  • There is always a new poll with the “lowest numbers ever!!!” yet Trump seems to consistently have a ~40% approval rate. It’s beyond frustrating.

This one only focuses on economic sentiment and is sad (people are really struggling) but also encouraging because the struggle is hitting some of Trump’s hard 40% floor of support with the clue stick. Inflation has been hammering folks for years now but the gas prices may be what finally wakes the Tump supporters up 🤞🏾.

So much of this country has shitty public transportation (or none at all) and so many people live in suburbs or exurbs where there are no sidewalks and nothing is a reasonable walking distance, especially in the freezing winters or 100+ degree summers. Additionally, the people living in cities where you can get by without a car are less likely to be Trump supporters. It may be hopium but the gas prices are such an obvious own goal, I really think the clueless are starting to wake up.

  • Tax the extremely wealthy until they can’t afford to buy politicians. Don’t know how we get there when the wealthy already own all the politicians. But if people with too much money can’t be trusted to play well with others, taking away their money seems like the obvious solution.

  • Could they start with Elon Musk, Melania Trump and Peter Theil?

Does anyone else think the NYPD photos of the UHC CEO shooting suspect don’t match?
