  • Yep, he just massively reduced CO2 emissions, potentially saving countless of species. He should be proud.

  • Here's an actually funny joke on the topic from Mitch Hedberg:

    • I'm not a vegetarian because I like animals. I just really hate plants.
  • All jokes aside, that picture is actually very cool and informative.

  • You joke, but for me it was refreshing to see something about the FBI where they catch actually bad guys, and not just civil rights activists and suspected communists.

  • So I watched the video and this seems like a lot of work and money to arrest 8-12 people that got 3-10 years in prison (each) across three undercover campaigns. So when they get out, does the FBI think they won’t disappear into the back country and hate the US even more? To me, it seems the FBI just created a more savvy terrorist with tax payer’s money.

This is probably true, but they also captured them at the point where they were going to execute a murder. So they managed to prevent that. Not sure what's your idea of handling organized terrorism like in the video is though.

ALSO, the title is misleading. Yes this agent infiltrated the KKK but it was the quickest and most boring assignment. Most of the arrests came from a biker gang and The Base.

Agreed, I suppose it's because people know KKK, but not The Base.

  • Did you consider the feelings of the nazis before talking shit about them? They are very sensitive, you know.

  • No. The movies get it all wrong. There won't be terminators and rogue AIs.

What there will be is AI slop everywhere. AI news sites already produce hallucinated articles, which other AIs refer to and use as training data. Soon you cannot believe anything you read online, and fact checking will be basically impossible.

  • I much prefer for (auto map : hashMaps) ... over for(unordered_map<string, unordered_set<string>> map : hashMaps) though. Shame they didn't name it "var" like in many other languages, auto just reminds me of cars.

  • You can disable this in Settings -> Data privacy -> Data for generative AI improvement.

  • Here's my attempt at satire at this current climate: The leader of the US met up with the other world leaders, behaved politely, improved relations and got genuinely complemented on his diplomatic abilities.

  • like this one

    Yep, that one was weak.

  • Unfortunately this comic starts to be outdated. The new generation is apparently less tolerant and more conservative. Somehow the kids just know how to disappoint the previous generation every time..

  • We always hear how great Rust is, but I’d be curious to know where it isn’t.

    • In any project that's sufficiently advanced and written in any other language. You don't simply do a rewrite of 100k+ LOC just because you want to use Rust.

    • Somewhere where you'd rather use a scripting language like Python. I.e., rapid prototyping or gluing together some infra components.

    • A situation where your team's expertise is in some other language.

    • A situation where a library/framework is native/only available for a certain language.

Few of these are strictly technical requirements. It's obvious that you can use almost any language to do almost anything, including Rust, if that's what you prefer. However, the context matters in the real world.

All this being said, I wish I had a chance to write Rust professionally. It's a neat language.

  • Well, to be fair, if you don't know what it is, it's not really useful to know your opinion on the question either.

(I'm being somewhat cheeky here, it would be polite to explain it in the comments at least)

  • You know what is important in comedy delivery.

  • The same as always: sexual favors behind a fast food joint dumpster.
