  • Well ok, if you count a research plan for a grant , I agree.But I would see a grant application as separate from the job application, even though jobs then can be conditional on the grant.I've at least never encountered an academic job, where there was only a grant application, and not also the standard job application process.

  • I assume that's for assistant professor and higher, right? Because I've never encountered a postdoc application where you would have needed the long essay, just one page cover letter, CV, letters of recommendation, and diplomas.
