    1. that does not proof that Steam pays developers to use Steam as a DRM,
    2. that is a decision made by the developers or publisher
  • It's not a meme. Most code in Rust is safe code. Even safe code does not prevent memory leaks, but it makes it vastly less likely, because of the controlled memory management. For those places when unsafe code is used, the likelyhood of getting memory leaks rises obviously. But that is a controlled little space. Because its marked as unsafe code, there is a huge red flag and more eyes are on that part than usual. And in case of a memory issue, those are the places to look first, which in turn helps finding memory issues faster.

Compare this to C, where everything is unsafe, potentially millions lines of code. Versus a couple of hundreds of thousand lines of unsafe code in Rust, if any. You can declare it as meme if you like, but that doesn't change the facts.

  • Yes, happens with bad programming. Would be less of an issue with Rust, BTW...

  • Why not leave it as it is and create Rocket League 2 with the new engine?

  • I don't like playing games in Early Access. Star Citizen is a dream game that is close to come true, but unfinished. I don't want to play an unfinished dream, because my first experience will not be as good as it could be. I give it another 10 years, but I start getting old...

  • Edited to add, I also kinda hate that analogy because in your analogy you’re painting Valve as a victim (having been robbed). Valve isn’t a victim here; they made bank.

Wrong, Valve is a victim here. That's the point. One should not be mad at a victim.

Channel your hate towards who are the actual problem and causing this.

  • You seem to not realize that Valve didn't "fuck up" (or created scarcity). It is the scalpers and only scalpers to blame.

Edit: As an analogy (don't take it literal, its just an analogy) would you blame a shop owner for getting robbed, because he did not stop the robbery and now you can't buy your milk? It is not the shop owners fault that you can't get your milk now.

  • Gabe plays Subnautica in real life.

  • I agree with you and do not dispute this claim. It was wrong from Valve to not do the pre-order dance and special ordering process they already did before. All I am saying is, that Valve did not create this with the intention of scarcity. Instead getting mad at Valve, one should be mad at scalpers and UPS.

  • Valve simply underestimated the demand for the controller, and that scalpers would buy it for that price. I don't think they did that with the purpose to scarcity. Why would Valve do that, what is the reason in your opinion? And why would even Valve give free games by choice (even expensive games) for anyone who did not get the controller?

  • Feels like Valve created this scarcity with the stupid ordering process

No, Valve did not create this on purpose. The ordering process is done to fight scalpers. In fact the first batch of Steam Controller did not have any special ordering process and that's when scalpers and bots purchased all controllers in short amount of time. That is why Valve made it more complicated and limited to order. Yes your situation is frustrating. But you can't fault Valve for you not being able to pick the controller up or how UPS handles the situation of what is possibly be a theft. Don't blame Valve for this.

  • I ask again: Where did you get that idea from? Any source other than "trust me bro" statement? Valve did not, unless you can proof your extraordinary claim with an extraordinary source.

  • Even if I am not a cheater, knowing what powers Riot have over my PC would be unacceptable. Its like saying the government is allowed to look what you are doing on PC, and you I need to worry because I am not a criminal. No game and its company should have this much power over my system. It's just a fucking videogame!

  • I feel sorry for the wait and uncertainty; its the worst (not literally off course). Lot of people report in forums that they did not get it. At least you got a free game of choice. For that it was probably a nice and not bad at all. In fact, I would have traded the wait for a compensation, lol. So enjoy the game.

  • Imagine a game difficulty selection level:

    easy <> normal <> hard

Easy is easier than normal. Why don't we have an easier version of hard? That's the kind of question you ask.

  • Stop telling me what to do. You are not my real dad.

  • Not exactly, one option is missing: We might be days from the launch away.

  • I'm not a moderator. I meant I would be a terrible moderator, if I were one.

  • The fighting community, such as mine back in the 360 and PS4 days was using arcade sticks. It was pretty nice for Street Fighter and Tekken games. Unless you count this as arcade games, I would probably agree with you.
