  • The biggest things I can see are:

    • the AI just pumps out text. There’s a bias for producing more code, when something more succinct or terse or a workaround exists
    • the AI has little idea of standards and usually doesn’t have the architectural context in mind. This produces solutions in the local maximum and not the global maximum. Maybe there are other places that feed more context into the model/provide examples that make it better.

So basically, it writes junior level code which is fine but it needs serious review by someone who has seen better examples. I fight with AI models all the time when they provide snippets because I’ve seen a bunch of different implementations and know how to poke it.

Also, we should keep in mind that these models are going to get super expensive soon, so the scope of use cases that are worthwhile will drop

  • Much nicer people TBH

  • A lot of nonsense apologia in these comments. Motivated reasoning and carefully cherry-picked sources. A fixation on the long history of western imperialist propaganda. Edgy contrarianism, ultimately.

What you won’t see much of:

Direct and lengthy criticism of China (the kind that isn’t just damage control)

    Citations from respectable research journals

Admissions that Marxist / socialist / etc nations have their own propaganda machines

Teens and Chinese agents, it is late, go to bed, you’ve got TikTok tomorrow.

  • Agree completely but I wanted to add: you can also get into an incomprehensible mess without vibing. Just follow the serverless flask tutorial, start writing raw SQL, and away you go!

I asked Claude today about why a coworker was getting errors and it almost exploded.

  • The guilt alone is your absolution

  • Good summary.

I’ve been working a while and think the latter things combined with the unfamiliarity of MDM/IT management tools in Linux has stopped much wider adoption.

So many industries just MUST run a few key apps that were designed and battle tested in windows long ago, as in wet lab science, manufacturing, and medicine to name a few I’ve seen.

Also stability (sorry but it’s hard to beat a MacBook).

  • No, he will follow the pattern of buying calls on gold beforehand, then detonating a nuke in Ft. Knox so the gold supply is irradiated, making the value of his gold skyrocket.

This was in a movie once. I think it was called “The President That Couldn’t Slow Down”

  • The document says:

    1. Popular policies wouldn’t allow us to maintain a fundraising edge
    2. We lost enthusiasm because of our vigorous defence of Israel
    3. Biden should have dropped out earlier, and there were people aware of the risk of a bad performance in the debate
    4. Harris didn’t do enough to differentiate herself from Biden and the opposition in (yet another) anti-establishment election
  • What does he think he’s doing by constantly complaining about this?

Justices consider their words carefully before speaking. What could possibly be the reason beyond letting off steam… repetitively and publicly?

Is it to tamp down public criticism of the court? If so, who cares? It won’t work, and they have lifetime appointments.

Is it out of guilt because the assertion is obviously factually untrue?

Maybe some of these guys just watch way too much Fox News and conservative media. They’ve been airing grievances just like these outlets. LOOKING AT YOU ALITO

  • It seems more like adults virtue signalling to each other than crafting legislation grounded in reality.

Everyone knows this was never going to stop kids. It’s weirdly controlling.

That having been said, if you’re resorting to all the stuff I would have done as a tech-oriented kid to …access Meta products? Then I don’t understand you.

  • Exactly the wrong direction if security is a concern. Why tf you think Linux is open source you absolute air fryers

  • I completely agree with the message but had to snicker at “populous”.
