  • For imgur check out Catbox. I haven't used it person, but it might be closer to imgur than pixelfed which is supposed to be an IG replacement.

  • I got their 12th gen diy last year and it was really easy to assemble. I was pleasantly surprised at how well thought out it was.

  • I've been using Proton since it first came out and have had no problems with it. I have a paid account because it's worth it to me to not be the product. And for about $5/mo I get encrypted email, calendar, vpn, drive, and password manager (though I primarily only use the first three).

They have a free version that lets you try it out, though with limited features.

  • I recently got diagnosed with "you're showing signs of it, so let's take the test and see" so I've been poking around places like here. Some of the things on here… damn I feel seen.

  • Same thing with the various Twitter migrations where they kept trying to turn Mastodon/ Calckey into the new Twitter. I think people like familiarity.

  • Since you are the algorithm for what you see instead of the system, you do have to put in some work to find content that interests you. But it is possible and rewarding when you do. Assuming microblogging is of interest to you of course.

  • Across the fediverse if you stick an @ in front of the 196 it'll work. Lemmy has a thing where they do an ! instead, but that's specifically their thing.

    Works with usernames too.

  • Don't worry, it'll all make sense in time. There are some great guides floating around if you haven't already found them.

  • I'm not surprised they struck it down, but I guess the jaded side of me is surprised they allowed him a different avenue to do the relief instead of making the whole concept illegal.

Also, there was talk from the Republicans about try to force everyone to pay back the interest we would have been paying this entire time. Somewhat surprised they didn't agree to that as well.

  • Just be careful. That only works because your instance already knows about those other instances because someone already interacted with them. If you ever want to join a community on a non-popular instance, you might have to be the first person to search for it by copying and pasting.

  • What part of Mastodon do you struggle with, if you don't mind me asking?

  • That sounds awesome. How did you find that the first time around?

  • How does Proton work? Is it another application like wine?

  • What kind of cat is Rufus?

  • Us and New Jersey I think are the only two now.

  • Well, good news on that front, the house and senate passed a bill to let us pump our own. As long as Kotek signs it, it would go into effect immediately.

  • It really does. My first thought was a lot of cities where it's run down and depressed and the more hipster artsy types show up for the cheap property and make something interesting. Eventually the affluent catch wind and show up to take advantage of what was created and price the originals out.

  • Hmm, I think I could manage this. What hosting service did you end up going with?

  • Oh, this would make things much easier. I signed up… do you have any idea how long it takes to get an invite?
