Personally, if I had quit something terrible and addictive (big props to you), I would be pretty upset if my wife continued to do said terrible, addictive thing.

Live in the UK, and I feel the same. Being afraid of the government seems a very US specific thing (at least in first world countries). But having visited the US, they're generally living in fear more than Europe. Bars on everyone's houses (or gates on communities). Constant worry about home invasion. Its another level compared to here.
That sounds weird. There should only be "TV Tuesday", which is what I see in browser. I pin the daily thread when I get up in the morning (between 5 and 6am usually) and unpin yesterday's thread at the same time.
As @thegiddystitcher said, there seems to be a lot of federation / replication issues between instances. I've spun up my own instance yesterday to play and I can't see most of the threads / comments on here, even the stuff created after the instance started.
We're on v 0.18 of Lemmy, so we're still in alpha / beta stages and the two creators are currently victims of their own success - I'm sure it'll settle down and start to work given time. We just need to keep momentum (and faith) and not give up on the platform.
Bit of a TV lull, I guess there's usually a dip in TV over the summer.
We've started watching Annika on iPlayer and it's ok. A bit more tongue in cheek than other police procedurals, which is nice. Not sure that I like the "talking to the camera" parts.
