  • Actually I’m not sure. Usually a beat panel is the second to last with no action in it at all. But in this one both middle panels have an action (the car going by and then Calvin & Hobbs running) but the framing with action outside the window isolates us just the right amount to still feel like a beat is being taken between the action of the car disaster and moms realisation.I imagine if I was drawing this I’d have had the car and Calvin both go by in the second panel and the third just being mom thinking. But Watterson such a great artist he can create that feeling of a moment of stillness without it really being there.

  • This is one of my favourite C&H strip. The beat panel just kills me.

  • I'd love to get a rerun of BioShock as I've never tried the remastered version. Also I'm currently listening to the third book of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. It's pretty good but I feel like the author has deeper plans for the whole series that are only getting trickled out at this point.

  • Cheetah’s went through a genetic bottleneck somewhere between ten and twelve thousand years ago. There may have been less than ten left at one point. Dating the Cheetah Genetic Bottleneck My totally silly theory is that humans in fact where adopting kits at that time and help saved the species, and that’s why they’re so almost domesticated.

  • A guy in Palm Beach Florida who looks remarkably like a pedo who committed ‘suicide’ a while back.

  • Webtoon’s approach vertical scroll is usually pretty good. I’m a big fan of Batman: Wayne Family Adventures so I’ve read the whole series there. Mostly the scrolling flows nicely and as the artists get experienced in the medium they develop techniques to make your eyes flow better up and down, much like comic book artists have developed techniques to move your eyes across the page.

  • Yeah Cena has grown in leaps and bounds as an actor. Even the growth in his skill from The Suicide Squad to season 2 of Peacemaker is really visible, and that’s because of the work he’s put in to keep up with some of the other actors. He’s great case study in someone with some natural talent who’s pushing themselves to become good. But yeah I’m bit biased as he’s the only guy I could see playing Carrot in a Discworld Guards movie and I really want that.

  • But but but … her number is undefined?

  • What’s your personal situation? For me I’ve got good freezer space, so a slow cooker and a bunch of freezer safe containers made for a really good investment. A slow cooker lets you use a lot of cheaper cuts of meat like beef chuck and chicken thighs, as well as making the cooking of beans and stews much easier. But it does tend to make larger portions then I need at a go, so I need to food prep and freeze a lot of stuff. On the other hand that allows me to buy in bulk, cook it all up and then freeze it. I tend to have like four to eight copies of a dozen different meals in our freezer so that does take up a lot of space.

  • Welcome to the Strange New World. God save you, if it is right that he should do so.

  • Technically correct, which is the best kind of correct!

  • I too really enjoyed this one-off. It really feels like Feige is keeping hands off these projects, letting the Daredevil producers in Born Again, and letting Bernthal and Green, tell the stories that they want to tell and not make it about the ‘story’ of the MCU.I agree with you though this really feels like a restart of the character from the end of his last show and where we see Frank at the beginning of Born Again.I disagree about Ma Gnucci though. I love Judith Light in the part but I got enough to understand everything she’s going through. Yeah Frank killing her family has given her PTSD and she’s going to hurt everybody in the fucking city to lash out. I don’t need to know why her body is rotting out (it’s the hate she carries) I get that she thinks she’s going to punish him because that’s all she’s got.Hurt people hurt people - that’s the whole story of The Punisher. It that last minute choice Frank makes to save the Donut family (by hurting people still) rather than focusing on revenge so much stronger.Honestly the one-off is great and the only problem I have really on my end. It’s not a coda to Born Again, in fact it’s got nothing to do with Born Again at all and I’m still a little bit grumpy about how that ended.

  • First of all stay calm. And listen very carefully to this advice never and I mean never commit two different crimes at the same time m.

  • Yeah I didn’t want to wade in to the political fight but the parallels between Trump - Kingpin and ICE - AVTF, are really striking. They almost remind me of Andor in their discussions of rising fascism and the literal police state. This is my worry about the end of season 2, it all came a bit too pat for me but I have faith they’ll pull it together in the long run.

  • I’m for one glad that they brought back D'Onofrio. His portrayal of Fisk has been a boon for Marvel. Honestly having a complex villain with such a strong presence makes the MCU through line for the Street level heroes much stronger then morass that the Avenger level heroes are dealing with.

  • it's ~twice the time between us and our last common ancestor with platypuses (160mya) That’s a good point and it really puts deep time in perspective. But it still points the no life / life transition being extremely easy? Doesn’t it? In two to three hundred myas we had a jump from barren hell scape to single cell life. That makes if look like life must be pretty easy to get started or am I missing something? Not a biologist so I suspect I’m missing something.

  • Yes but, this was maybe 300 million years after Theia smashed the proto-earth half destroying the planet and forming the moon. The whole planet must have been sterilised by that right? So it’s pretty damn quick isn’t?
