so the fun thing about the history of the english language is -
writing got standardised just around the same time the printing press was invented, since everyone now had access to the same resources more people learnt to read and write in a similar way. and all was well :)
...
and then something that linguists call "the great vowel shift" happened. where vowels of the oral english language just kinda, did a flip. but because of the printing press thing, you couldn't just update the ortography... and now because of that (and many other things too, but this is a significant one) english is the way it is :)
it wasn't satire, it was a warning of what could happen if you mix (at the time) sci-fi technology with human psychology
holograms of celebrities were a thing sure, but they said one liners or pre-recorded phrases. here we are talking about an AI that mimics a person's speech being put in a hologram that will probably also use AI to mimic behaviours
Be Right Back - Black Mirror... it wasn't supposed to be a documentary. it wasn't supposed to be a documentary. it wasn't supposed to be a documentary it wasn't supposed to be a documentary it wasn't supposed to be a documentary it wasn't supposed-
the physical places that house AI are destroying communities and environments
the AI is being trained on stolen works of artists, writers, and honestly everything that exists online
AI when it works damages critical thinking, and uses human psychology against us
yeah i'm not excited about AI either, i used to be. but seeing the reality of what's going on just makes me sad about how - what could've been a wonderful tool, and potentially, one day, even a sapient companion to humanity - it's being used
nono, not that. a full incoming (outcoming?) load that delayed its arrival until you were already clean
and when i have access to bidets i never really use it like a jet poop blaster, i just clean my butt with my hand and then yk, wash my hands. i feel like aiming water in attack mode at a thing i can't see would end up in me being soaked sooner rather than later
i used to get spam calls about back pain medication, i'm 26, no back pain yet, thankfully. but they kept calling me nonetheless
thankfully i'm european so one day i cited the law to be forgotten, and once they told me "sorry we can't :(" and i replied "well you better fix that because that's illegal :)" they hung up immediately and never called me again :D
some of that basic advice still boggles the minds of leaders today
"always leave a way for your enemy to escape, a hopeless enemy fights to the death"
oh what was that? grind all the money out of everyone so they feel hopeless and feel like there's no way out? yeah great idea let's do that - apparently every profit centred institution
good actions for wrong reasons are... still good actions. you want to hire black actors to pander to minorities? sure, it'll still help a little child imagine themselves as the hero, and help the actor show their skill. you want to hire a sensitivity consultant because it'll look good in the credits? please do, at best they'll really help, at worst they'll get a free paycheque.
and if a race swapped character acts the same way as they did before? well alright, as long as it's not completely nonsensical. obviously there are social and cultural differences but the world is vast, plenty of personalities out there.
we become what we do. this inclusiveness might be caused by pandering today, but because it's being done at all, tomorrow it'll be the norm
not the best way forward, but better than not moving at all
ah you're correct yes. i meant when they got to use the press, not invented it
