  • for me it sounds like you actually do not want to communicate via E-Mail (for obvious reasons) but require one for registering with a service that you actually want to use. Can't you use a throw away E-Mail to register at the service? Something like the anonbox from the Chao Computer Club: https://www.anonbox.net/de/

That way you can create an account with a throw-away Email and then use the account without any linking to you. But be sure to use an anonymuous, non-trackable wayy when creating this throw-away mail and also while using the service you are registering for.

  • Thanks a lot for sharing/linking this information! Adding more context to the article is very good. I would have assumed that the article would link to such reports. I definetly need to read through this.

  • Let's go! I want more of this! Better hardware/firmware support is always appreciated.

  • You are right. I was filteringer for Backpacks between 15-19l and didn't see the bigger ones.

  • Thanks for the information. Unfortunately only one Backpack Version is available as "Made in Germany". Yes, it lists two, but the only difference is the material used (one is waterproof, the other is not).

  • Recable.EU : sustainable USB cables, repairable, fair & handmade in Germany

  • The whole Page doesn't Sound very convincing. Advertising your product with RoHS and REACH compliance when you are legally obligated to fullfill these regulations.

Also "handcrafted cables": What do you mean? You make each cable by Hand? That would be ridiculous and incredibly ineffective. Look at companies like LAPP Kabel who also operate in Germany to see how its done propperly.

It looks to me like someone is trying to ride the wave of EU alternatives and sustainability, but doesn't actually have a suitable product.

  • The interesting thing is that it does not look like a permanent/always thing. A couple of days I also got these Pop-Ups (which you can circumvent by using "Desktop-Mode" in your mobile Browser) but I do not get them anymore. Is some kind of A/B testing ongoing or did they remove the changes?

  • This is the best proposal so far posted here!

  • According to the article, they received this information verbally or in writing from internal sources, but without being provided with any further evidence. To me, that’s not enough information to take the article seriously.

  • Thanks for sharing! I thought there had been something similar in the past, but I can't remember

  • I am currently using a Lenovo Yoga 370 from 2017 (which I bought as a refurbished device). This replaced my previous Lenovo X121e with an AMD E-450 from arround 2012 (also bought as a refurbished device).

But the plastic from the Yoga is now slowly but steadily crumbling arround the Screen or arround the hinges. So I think we will have to part ways at some point...

  • This is a good very good thing! Let's hope that Dell & Lenovo will also cover their more Consumer oriented devices (Lenovo Yoga, Lenovo Ideapad or Dell Non-Pro or XPS models) instead of just their Business oriented Models (like Dell Latitudes and Thinkpads/Thinkstation)

  • I don't see how E2EE would be that important for Zulip. It is mostly used in Teams who work together on a project or for a specific business/company. They all know each other (or at least part of the Teams) and share the information. And it is (typically) run on dedicated hardware owned by the Team.

So i personally see no benefit for E2EE in these kind of contexts.

  • I really like that gene therapies are used to help improve peoples lives by creating or improving treatments. Please more of this!

  • That was an interesting read. I didn't have a lot If knowledge about this topic. So thanks for that!

Was ist using AI for assisted writing? Maybe. But I don't have a Problem with that. I assume everyone ist using it to some extend (me included) and uses it as a tool as any other tool.

The Data is the actual interesting Thing. Would be cool If the author could share his data (of course IP's or other personel information must be anonymized/hashed). If that is made up by AI...Well there goes your credibility. But I don't assume that from the beginning.

  • I see this mostly as pre-work for supporting the Steam machine. But nevertheless it is a Big Deal for the Handheld Market because now SteamOS now becomes an even better option for most of the Handhelds available. Maybe some manufacturers might even think about shipping their devices with SteamOS.

Me personally I am very happy with the Lenovo Legion Go S on Steam OS (just bought the Windows version and replaced it with Steam OS). With the better support we can feal more comfortable to recommend SteamOS for users of other devices.

  • This! Don't know why you would need something else.

  • Thanks for sharing! This APP looks very interesting for non tech people

  • Even for M1 MacBooks Asahi does not support things like Thunderbolt, DP Alt Mode, Fingerprint Reader, etc. Also Power management is still a problem because Apple doing things differently then other ARM devices. https://asahilinux.org/docs/platform/feature-support/m1/

If I am Buying a 2000€+ Laptop I want everything to work. Not flawlessly, but at least working. And Asahi is not there. That's what I mean with "not suitable as a daily driver". If this is good enough for someone, thats fine. I am happy for them and they should enjoy their device. But most other people buying such laptops would not be happy.
