There is no communism without pigeons.

  • You triggered my brain with the word "RAM". When I bought my Thinkpad, I had two options. Stronger CPU, but 16GB RAM installed or weaker CPU but 32GB RAM. In the end I chossed the stronger CPU version, because I can buy more RAM next month. Good CPU is great for development and you can't upgrade it. Month later the DDR5 prices were insane. So, I still have only 16GB. 2GB are for VRAM, so there are my 14GB. And I am struggling with that. Jetbrains + Browser with many tabs open can be enough to reach the limit.

I hope so much that China develops good RAM and then floods the market. I don't care if it would be little bit slower, I just need more RAM. My Thinkpad supports up to 64GB...

  • Reddit is just Reddit. It never represents the thoughts of a country. The USA would have tremendous potential if a bolshevik revolution would happen there. And there is also a reason why the actual imperialist hegemon is fighting that strong against socialism. This country is fucked, its really bad for the people there, so of course the superstructure is trying its outmost to repress, shaping the whole culture pro capitalist.

But things can change fast. I always remind how weak the bolsheviks were, but certain things turned it from the februar revolution to the october revolution. Lenin himself didnt belive in witnessing a socialist revolution, it would be a task of the younger generation. We know he was wrong with that. But exactly this is the reason why we need to study the bolshevik revolution in detail.

If the USA would witness a bolshevik revolution and then become the Soviet Union of Socialist States, it would be a major win world wide. I am sure the people of the US want an alternative, however the Überbau or Superstrucutre is so freaking aggressive, its probably even a separate topic.

  • You dont say to a construction worker "You need to secure your workspace, because the russki-kaputski will come and push your ladder away", this would be plain stupidity. Same goes for cyber security, I dont care where attacks may come frome - they can and mostly are spoofed anyway. Securing your data and having the autonomy about has the same level as the lock on your door, so no one can go in. Biometric Authentication is insecure. It is comfy, yes - I like to use it on my notebook, dont have to type long password everytime I use sudo. Face isnt good either, you can provide a photo as well. And lets not forget, that the liberal law can force you to provide your fingerprints or face to unlock your phone. As example it is absoluetly legal to do so in Germany, they take your finger and unlock it.

Giving your biometrics to the goverment is worse. Some liberals pretend, that the character of state could never change, it will always be a bourgeois democracy with guaranteed liberal rights. Its not like the bourgeois doesnt democracy would never "misuse" it (I hope it is clear what I mean), but what if there will be a switch to plain fascism in 10 years? Then they have the biometric data already and can use it. Imagine Hitler had such means.

My arguments against it are based from a IT-Security point of view. Just take a book about cryptographie and you'll find enough explanations. This whole topic is not new. Usually its start to combat the distribution of documented abuse of children in media form. Then "murder is bad as well, it can be added as well" followed by "heavy crimes". Salami slicing tactic.

    Why I am at Lemmygrad

  • Thank you for your words, I can relate also. I will try to calm down, and to see as a chance find something, where I am more rrspected. At first I will process all the vegetables left (its a bunch of kilogrammes), in the end I should have enough to make around 30 litres of soup at least. I wish I could share, but sadly its not possible :/

  • Your whole comment feels good to read, thank you. And you are right with your point. I'll hope to find something new where to participate

  • What's BBS and where does one start? I have no clue about this all

  • You are right. The feeling is like a contradiction. On one side I am aware, that there were more important things to do and that I had my priorities. On the other side, I have no projects and no small team anymore. Losing this routine completely at least for now feels somehow painful. Brain is dumb I guess. I hope I will find something, where I can continue.

I am confused, because your comment is visible and simultaneously deleted. I guess I shouldn't use an outdated client. Idk if your offer still stands. I am of course happily open and available to do something together with someone. I can be contacted here on Lemmy .

Pretty depressed for losing a community where I can program

  • OK. Can you tell me where you did find it?

  • I agree. This picture itself is a reactionary product, but a interesting one! Do you have a high quality version? An the abbreviation are funny.

  • Why burn a kreml?

  • The question is not concrete. If Chinese robots will appear tomorrow in my flat and then start dancing, this would be a oroblem. However if they can do chores for me, without dancing, I'll welcome them (For free of course, I have no money)

  • Of course it is Russia's fault. Today I read a wonderful comment on Reddit:

If Ukraine will start run out of ammunition, that it is probably the fault of Russia too.

  • Ukraine is the scapegoat indeed. But to say, that it was initially orchestrated by the US would mean to take an extra step in thinking. So the liberal now is simply acknowledging that it was done by Ukraine and that it was a good thing to do. However! Not Ukraine itself for some. You know, it were just "Ukrainian patriots" which were sponsored by some rich guy.

And years back being called a Russian bot for saying that it was not done by Russia, was insane.

  • I still wonder about the mental gymnastics back then when that happened.

    • "This is false flag operation from Vladolf Putler!"
    • "RuZZia destroyed the pipelines, so Germany won't have gas over the winter!"

Ukraine would never do such things, you know. And now:

"It is understandable that Ukraine did that." "It was clear from the beginning."

    Pathetic.

  • I think Python has a better overall philosophy with the batteries included concept.

But still you have dependency hell there. NodeJS ecosystem is a mess but I wouldn't say it python is that much better. All this virtual environment stuff is annoying as well. And also making a mistake while typing a package name to install can also lead to a compromise. However my point is, that this all is not a bad PR for open source.

NodeJS is a framework. And the language used in NodeJS is open source as well. And this is normal. C, C++, Python, Rust, Perl etc. are free to use. How can it be a bad for open source, if there are security risks in the ecosystem of a language?

And the widespread use of open source means more good and bad actors are posting their codes in GitHub and most of people who use it aren't aware of all the issues.

Look here. Is this also bad for open source? I mean, this are security problems. GitHub is just a repository hosting provider. Even if my repo is private, the same things could happen.

And we are talking about libraries. It is almost normal, that libraries used in a project have a open source licence. While it is not that normal, that open source software is used.

I think it is again bad PR for npm. But not for open source. And indeed, if I find a cool software but it is based on NodeJS, I will rather not use it. The ecosystem is bad and it is still JavaScript.

  • Why for open source? A lot of important libraries are open source and this for a very long time. Here we have compromised libraries in the npm repository. NodeJS is also used in closed source applications. A supply chain attack could also happen in python. Golang simply uses github, which offers a lot of possibilities for a compromise - also used in this supply chain attack.

Difference is, that in NodeJS people use a lot of packages as dependencies. Even for stupid tasks like the legendary isEven. Its dependancy hell.

  • This has to be the Ustasa flag? People liking this picture despite knowing what this means, are fascist. Saving democracy my ass. Would the really believe this narrative, they would dislike this picture.

  • You need to differentiate then and emphasise the different conclusions you make compared to the person you are discussing with.

In the late Soviet Union there were indeed standing lanes for products. This is true and I don't think this was good. I think a anticommunist would say the same, but my conclusion is not that the Soviet Union was bad or socialism itself leads to such things. Through further discussion I would explain it more and more.

Often enough their propaganda includes some truth, but is bastardised. When Hungary 1956 happened it was indeed a tragedy. It was not a pure product of CIA, the communist party there made clear mistakes which made people unhappy. But the situation was then also used by CIA (probably also other foreign agencies), which is meanwhile proven how they provided weapons, and this lead all to a lot of causalities. In my opinion this short explanation puts this historic event in a more correct light, then "people were unhappy and then soviet tanks invades and committed a massacre".

The same goes for all those other topics. The famine in Soviet Ukrainian and western part of Soviet Russia. It was awful, absolutely. We know that the were many causalities for that and the communist party made mistakes¹

Kronstadt also, anarchists are mentioning it often. Kronstadt was a tragedy, nothing good about that. But it was really necessary for taking it, otherwise the revolution would be in danger.

First you need of course enough knowledge about a certain topic and second then patiently explaining. If you try Lenin and read more from him, you will discover how much he explains and he repeats his self a lot. He was a great pedagogue.

From all what I wrote now, I provided more information, then a liberal would do about that topics and I am not talking like it was all a cool.

I don't know if this helps you somehow. What me helped in the past was reading Lenin. I guess every 3th comment I make here on Lemmygrad is something about how much reading him helps in theory and praxis. In the collected works there are also his speeches he gave to students. As long as you engage more and more in explaining, you will get better with that. And don't forget, admit mistakes that were made or are made, but emphasise that your critique comes from the left and doesn't align with the anticommunist propaganda.

¹I shouldn't write more about the famine in Ukraine. So far as I know, I can get into trouble with the German law, if I say in a public space, that my conclusion is not a anticommunist one (I know, I formulated it strange). They would probably find a way to get me doxxed.
