  • I thought the same about BotW. Between the lack of story by default (you have to search it out through specific pictures that you damn well be able to know the landscape and match it up) and the sparse music and themes of previous Zelda games. It felt like the SMB2 of Zelda games, you could have titled it something else with a different protagonist and it would have been its own game.

  • I know everyone likes to tout VR, but I really think that AR will be the sweet spot most people ultimately adopt. Add it into nice looking glasses (sorry Google Glass, not it) and have some sort of easier to use interface that can interact with your surroundings and that will take off.

    Imagine being in a business meeting with a little pop up over each person's head with their name, title and other interesting information you need to know. Or be at a baseball game and have similar stats pop up above each player's head. Turn by turn directions overlaid directly on the street. There are endless possibilities (as long as the ads don't get in the way, but even for them, imagine green screen billboards that can display unique ads too).

Far too often low and mid level managers and supervisors get shit on just as much and have to parrot the company line coming from the higher ups that are trying to push it.   • Yeah Sync hasn't gone done yet, it's been the instance which lately is lemmy.world being the target of DDoS attacks. When that happens I switch to an alternate account and things are running fine again, so it's not Sync related.

    Trump signs the pledge. Since the RNC is a private body they can technically choose anyone they want and choose someone not Trump. Trump sues them bringing the question of the RNC/DNC into play. Trump further runs independent causing the RNC to sue him to keep him off the ballots (again also putting the RNC/DNC into question). While things work their way in the courts, Republicans have a split ticket problem.

  • The ship of "Lemmy must be entirely FOSS" has sailed. You can either invest time or money and even then there are some tradeoffs of things that can't be swapped out. Datadog and Cloudflare are two of those such things.

    Lemmy (including lemmy.world) are at a critical junction to continue to grow or lose momentum. These DDOSs are one such thing that caused it and everyone going "FOSS, FOSS, FOSS!" are another. If they have time in the future there may be a possibility, but when playing the growth game sometimes you have to go with the best tool available even if it doesn't meet your ideals.

    Sync for Reddit is another such tool. I've seen so much hate for it because it's not pure FOSS, pay no mind to the sheer number of people that have downloaded it, are using it and have helped drive traffic to Lemmy and the Fediverse in general.

    Nothing is stopping you from using a fully FOSS front end with your own server, that's the beauty of the Fediverse, you can choose what you want and still interact with others, but don't get on their case when they select something you don't like.

  • Yeah to add to that it is pronounced more like "Mass-tah-don" rather than "Mass-toe-don". The "tah" portion makes people think it's spelled with a "ta" since that would give you that pronunciation normally instead of "to". One of the many insane quirks of the English language stealing from other languages over the centuries.

  • Control is another thing. I can't tell you the amount of execs I've heard say "they're losing control of their company" or "I don't feel I have the same control over my people". It's crazy that they think that. What do they think the past 3 years have been when they've gotten record profits "oh, but our profits would be even better if we had people back in the office". Sadly no amount of data will override the entrepreneurial "it could always be more" what if that they throw out.
