  • I play most games with mouse and keyboard. But there are games that just play better with controllers especially casual ones. Also good luck couch gaming with keyboards and mice. :)

  • Make phones 18+ to buy. Make it a legal requirement for parents to set up parental controls. Make parental controls not suck ass. Make the phone tell the website if child or adult no age brackets nonsense. IMO children don't need access to all websites.

    Still there are some issues where abuse can come from parents but hey if they wanted they could give their children alcohol too so that point doesn't really fly with me.

  • Just wait until driver support is ended by nvidia. I have two P40 which are powerful and work well but nvidia just ended support (for compute) but I think the point still stands. Maybe it will be better with the new oss drivers

  • If you have an SSD consider hibernation. It's not that fast but usually much more stable and actually shuts down properly.

  • I have been writing short stories, manuals, news paper articles and wiki like entries in a universe I have been making up for over 7 years now.

    While some of the older works are a little out of sync with the current rules and history, I finally found the story in it that I wanted to tell all along!

    A month ago it suddenly came to me and the independent stories fell into one big story. The twenty characters collapsed to like five and I have a consistent story outline. It was cathartic!

    I really thought I would never make it this far! Something like that can happen even if you just write little pieces. No matter your goal if that happens it is very satisfying.

  • 100% control was not meant literally. I recognize that 100% control might be unachievable. Sleep deprivation and many other factors can also reduce "control" which is equally undesirable in my opinion. Also true self might be a little loaded but I see it that way. You are free to interpret true self differently!

  • For me the most frightening aspect of drugs is not being my true self and not being 100% in control. I see it all the times when friends do them. While it is funny for me to spend time with them in that state, I would never want to be in that state myself. I do imitate drunkness and lower inhibitions to fit into the environment. Nobody takes any issue with me being sober then.

  • For me it is not about documenting my life at all. It is about processing very strong emotions (negative, positive, neutral?) that I can't move on from.

    Note the names are abbreviated with just a letter in the entry itself too. In the moment it is often too hard for me to write the actual name. I have removed the exact date but I don't think the titles are too sensitve.

    I review my entries like once a year and it is still very hard to read some of them. I think remembering the past is very importnat. It also shows growth, improvement and development.

    Older ones are sadly lost to time. I think it really helped me improve myself a lot.

    I never force myself to write them. I write them when I feel I have to. It also keeps the number low and the impact high ideal for a yearly review.

    Some have blocks of dated commentary at the end. I never edit existing writing though. Once it is written it is frozen.

  • I love that ability I just have to be tired enough which I usually am.

    When I decide to sleep on the cold floor for example I sometimes regret that on the next day though.

  • Playing the piano. Not because I don't like it. I just found it to be another thing I mostly do alone and I have more than enough hobbies where I do that already and enjoy more. Instead I picked up some hobbies to do with friends.
