  • That is one pretty bike!

  • Ooo I did not. I just got to the trail from the road, I do have a pump in my box to fill it when I get back on the road though. I think I’ll try that when I get back to the trail in a month or so (before I order new tires)

  • Exactly!

  • Ooo I’ll have to keep those in mind! Thanks!

  • We do it not because it is easy, but because we thought it would be easy. KLRs are such wonderful bikes though

  • This is why I never and will never wash my bike. The luggage rack is definitely getting fixed though since I quite like it around town lol

  • Yknow it’d make more sense to not take a 460 pound bike through sketchy shit, but where’s the fun in that? The bikes fine, I just need to design and 3d print a replacement peg for the hard case which broke off lol

  • Yeah, I think the 80/20 tires would have been fine if the trail was dry, but I’m definitely looking at more aggressive off-road tires next. The trail was basically wet clay. On the plus side that meant no damage to the bike when it took a few dirt naps lol

  • Is it courage or stupidity? Maybe both lol. And yeah, I want to repaint/wrap my bike eventually, and I’m definitely having my friends wife cut me a halfrica twin sticker for the new colors

  • The baby on board was taking the picture, it’s me, I’m the baby. Maybe j should consider getting a baby doll and keeping it in the box that’s usually empty just for shits and giggles though

  • If it does I haven’t noticed it. I just took a 3 hour ride and popped the box off no problem, unless it cooled within the few minutes. I did also have wet clothes in that bag during the ride and they’re still wet, so if there’s any extra heat hitting it it’s a negligible amount.

  • Motorcycles @lemmy.world

Whispers only please, the halfrica twin is taking a nap.

  • For sure! Keep the rubber side down amigo. The Honda 500s are phenomenal bikes, definitely sucks about the melted bag though lol.

  • I wanna wrap it in something like baby blue personally lol. And yeah, I’d recommend the cheap ones on Aliexpress personally, it’s like a quarter of anything else price wise. It doesn’t line up perfectly but I’m a function over form person lol. And I’m sure it does but I’ll have to check next long ride, but I’ve never had issues with anything melting or anything getting too warm

  • I have an NX500 myself, to be honest I went with some hard mounts that replace the passenger grab bars and hard boxes from Ali express, even with tarrifs (I’m in the US) the total was sub $500 for two boxes and a rack. Super worth it, I put it through hell and high water and they’re great. Definitely something I’d recommend.

  • I think the discord exodus kicked their ass into gear dev wise, they seem to have finished up the rebranding (discord no longer shows revolt as the activity) and the desktop app got a few new features yesterday. But yeah, the lack federation thing is a definite downside, I think you can self host but it doesn’t seem to be super intuitive (granted I’m not the most technical). I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this though. Thanks for sharing it!

  • This is the kinda positivity that I needed to start my day, thanks stranger lol

  • I set up stoat and I’m loving it so far, I’ll be curious to follow the development of this as well but I think the few people I got to join stoat out of the two dozen on my discord server would tar and feather me if I started talking about yet another alternative after the teeth pulling that was getting them to join the first one lol

  • Honestly I just tried stoat and setting up a server (it’s not hosted by me so maybe just a space) to try to get my friends to migrate to. We have ~20 some odd people and have lots of chats categorized by outdoor/indoor with channels for diy/gaming/cooking/ordering out and so far, stoat has a few limitations I miss from discord (editing category or custom emoji names, for example) and I have yet to try out the voice chat aspect of it but it looks like this is going to be the clear winner for my use case. I’m hoping they get a mobile app working for some of the more casual just want to chat and share interesting pictures of our day without sitting at the pc members but besides that I’m loving it. Maybe at some point I’ll try to look into seeing if I can self host, but for now it’s nice to know there’s something that feels just like discord from an organization of topics perspective that hasn’t gone down their path (yet?)
