  • Interference never though about that good to know might go 60ghz then and get 3 for 180 degree coverage. Also they can look through walls? Also trough wood or concrete or only the american paper walls? As this would be amazing for my hallway where there is a staircase kind of in the way.

Also what do you mean by fast detection are the radars not enough for someone walking by?

  • that doesnt seem to work i can only forget the network and see the encryption type

  • i forgot to mention i want to do it when i am not connected to them they are not mine but logins from family and friends that i want to all do without having to go to their house with both phones. if qr-codes work without being connected to them tell me how and i am happy to do it but i could not find the option except for the network i am connected to at that moment

looking to solve some minor problems i have with my new honor magic 5 pro

  • Okey I see everyone telling me power will be 100w+ so I think I won't do it as we pay around the 30-50 cents per kWh but I see why purpose made hardware is more expensive now

  • That is not for multigig yes for 1gbit this ain't worth it but for 2.5 or 10 it is a bit cheaper €20 per 2 10g ports

  • homelab @lemmy.ml

Mining motherboard+ 10g network cards= cheap network switch?

  • I wish it was as easy as just buy $50 battery. But with a waterproof phone I don't think waterproofing will be ip68 when I replace the battery and being able to just dunk my phone in water or run it under the sink when it's Dirty is so freaking easy. I do find it kinda weird that you doing 80-20 made the battery worse I think it might be just newer battery tech/software but you saying that your new phone also has the battery degrade faster than your previous phone makes me wonder if maybe manufacturers are already doing 80-20 in the software maybe and mapping 80 to 100 and 20 to 0. And that charging it more often is worse than just doing 100% and charging it less. I think I am definitely going to need to setup some experiment to figure it out. And maybe going to ask honor for advice. Thank you for sharing this information.

    how to optimize battery life?

  • this will require my printer to work(its a build in progress) but is a great idea i had not thought about this as i can do nice 3 dimensional tiles.

  • that one is an already existing company making google searches hard for a small company kool play on words tough

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

How does one come up with a name for a company?

  • Arch Linux ISO

are you an arch user by any chance?

  • Ama

I am wondering is there any way i can add my own iso's to a medicat drive? like is it just like the ventoy installer and can i than just use it as a preinstalled ventoy drive to put my own live iso/windows install media on it? or is it 1 drive only for medicat?

(btw i disabled my add blocker when reading your message about the only way to keep the site running i like this kind of hey i noticed you are running an add blocker kind of message and just wanted to support with adds)

Edit i found a typo on your site: https://medicatusb.com/docs/installation/supported-drives/ "We SRONGLY suggest" i think you meant STRONGLY

  • DBan

this is exactly why i posted this. I learned some new tool :)

  • Selfhosted @lemmy.world

what iso's are a must for ultimate ventoy disk(and what size is recomended)?

  • o so a real server chassis provides that airflow but because of the lack of flow in towers/desktops they get overheated i get it, good to know

  • p40 I’d be glad to run a benchmark on, just tell me how.

yeah i think that's kind of the issue today there isn't really a benchmark for that kind of stuff. from what i understand the p40 is perfectly capable of running some larger models because of the 24gb. what i don't understand is you are talking fan and fan coupling what do you mean with that is that required i have a supermicro sc747 see link for example would that require more airflow trough the gpus to cool?

  • so i am looking to get a k80, p40 or 3060 regarding the support for cuda in future i see that it is possible to use a old gpu without the current cuda version even if a program requires it? or is it not usable in some programs today? compiling from scratch isnt a problem and drivers is something i can probably handle to but are there more real problems for future proofing?

  • just wondering but isnt a airco kinda overkill would a fan to the outside not be enough? I mean yea if you have 20c (68f) air vs 30c (86f) the 20c air is going to cool better but if that means 800w of power consumption to cool a 400w server that means a big powerbill here in the eu.

  • LocalLLaMA @sh.itjust.works

    k80, 3060 or p40 for performance

  • so looking at your "server" it seems like a workstation i have no experience with k80's but from what i know all server gpu's are designed passive to be cooled by some loud fingerremover5000's so i think if you would upgrade the fans it should be fine since its only 300w. if cooling really is a problem than maybe some shrouds might help it but i don't think a single k80 is difficult to cool since in the data center they probably ran 4-6 in one 4u chassis
