  • Ortho linear means all the keys are arranged vertically and straight, with no key offset like you'd find in regular keyboards. The idea is you can type faster (after getting used to it), and offset keys are no longer necessary since we don't use typewriters anymore.

  • The game is already perfect, why ruin it with a movie adaptation?

  • No, you'll be fine. And some distros trivialize it. In my case I don't get as good of framerates as I would on Windows, so there are some issues due to Nvidia not providing open source drivers, but it still works with Linux.

  • Gimli has many axes, including the one he grabbed from his buddy when he tried to destroy the ring.

  • It's a big ask. HeliBoard and FUTO are actively in development so improvements will come. They're also the best we have as far as privacy or open source alternatives go. They'll either grow to fill the need for a perfect alternative or another project will, but not yet.

  • I'm not exactly sure who is behind all the Fossify apps but I'm impressed with their momentum.

  • Frontend in software development. If you know, you know.

  • I join when the meeting reminder pops up and I click "join", right on time. I don't like small talk, no point in being early.

  • My SO has been using ASMR with some ear buds for years. It occupies her mind and helps her relax enough to fall asleep. Great stuff.

She also needs her fan... Or some other form of white noise. It may be an ADHD thing.

  • Sperm confetti.

  • I'm intrigued. And although I read the article, I'm not entirely sure who or what this is for. It's cool, but... what?

  • The general attitude that "British English is correct" and Americans are wrong, is one of the most absurd things I've ever experienced. English is inconsistent enough as it is, so don't claim your inconsistency of spelling and pronunciation is somehow superior. Believe it or not, withing linguistics you don't make the rules.

  • Kagi! You can block websites so they don't show up. It'll also flag websites that contain a lot of spam or ads.

  • Wellll I don't entirely agree. Ever been to IKEA and had a cart full of furniture? It takes every bit of strength my strong body can manage to take a turn without sliding out of control sideways and knocking over five display units and three children. The non-turning back wheels make turns more manageable. Carts should work like cars, front wheels turn, back wheels don't. I submit this comment as sacrifice.

  • I'm clearly out of touch with the world. Over half of these got an audible groan out of me when I watched the trailers.

  • Strictly from a viewer's perspective, I use a YouTube client alternative (like GrayJay, Freetube, NewPipe) and subscribe only to the channels I want to see content from. Then I can look at video suggestions for given videos to see relevant content. This entirely removes me from the algorithm as well as any personalization that would put me in an echo chamber. I also branch out to reliable and unbiased news sources, better search engine alternatives, and so on.

  • Lord of the Rings (movies) came out this century. Let's give credit where credit is due.

  • LadyBird can't come soon enough.
