just hanging out here.

  • thanks. please call out my half-assed knowledge more! :)

  • hm thanks for pointing that out. i will have to thonk abt that for longer though.

  • like any good model it has it's scope. inductivity and capacity are out of scope. electrical current is not electrons pushing each other as a longitudinal wave in water could make it wiggle in a pipe. as soon as something stops to make sense in the model we need a new model.

  • [edit: redacted bc idk enough abt what i said here]

the water allegory unfortunately breaks down very quickly. pressure is force per area. voltage is a difference in potential (~charge).

i feel like someone might be better to really answer to your questions. my physics ed is .. long gone.

edit: ofc electrical currents (flow/wiggeling) heat up materials through interaction with it. so yeah electrons transmit the energy they get to tge materials.

transistors (and diodes) are black magic to me. i learned to calculate, but never understood the how and why. you might wanna have a look into the avalanche effect, that is at play in a transistor switching. its a good rabbithole for a weekend, i promise!

  • glad, you sided with yourself. :)

  • i'd say its not only that they don't know how i felt before. it's "the inherent tragedy of trans identities" that ppl learned from different media: every day a fight, everything precarious ... wIlL aNyOnE eVeR lOvE tHeM?

    i'd answer: "sir, this is a wendy's."

  • so many times i had to explain to people (and i am not out that long), that coming out as trans doesnt start a crisis. it end's one. (as long as ppl leave you alone.)

  • i feel that. i assumed it is an autistic trait ... also theres a trans thing in my life. i like my new name a lot better.

still there are situations, in which i think it's unneccesarry to say my name. especially , when you already have my attention. people pointed to 'removing distance' as a function. i usually like my distance. "hi, kluczyczka." sounds waaay to forward, as if you want to eat me. if you already have my attention, just say "hi". ...

in languages which have strong formality, i tend to use these forms a lot more than others too, this usually uses the family name , which has a nice distance to it? so "hi, ms tchncs.de" would be fine with me.

  • i feel that. unfortunately i did not really understand why i liked such situations. they got fewer and fewer with age. only after i lost that joy, i understood.

  • when my roomies married i was giga stressed to find an outfit, that i liked. i didn't. i was super weirded out by the suit-or-dress-situation. i was upset, that i did not feel comfy around my friends, at all. a day after the party it all fell a part i did not try to explain, why i wouldnt wear a dress, but think about that i'd like to ... then i decided hrt. this whole night felt like i had a revelation. there was no reasoning, no recognising; there was just an unknown self making itself heared for the first time.

  • well redundancies are first of all expensive. plus there are already alternate ways of distribution. these are just insufficient for a naval blockade. the capacity of pumping it up and then putting it on a ship quasi-on-site is always gonna be magnitudes bigger and cheaper, than building pipelines. so ...

  • a lot of oil comes from the persian gulf. that is hard to get out otherwise. saudi arabia has a pipeline to their westcoast, but that wouldn't meet the demand.

the strait of hormuz is a major choke point in oil trade. unfortunately oil is stil a key ressource for everything. ...

  • the 3 bestest guys. objectively. <3

  • the only things that are visible all year around, are circumpolar objects. these are objects that are close to the north or south pole respectively. if you sit on the northern hemisphere, you will not see the southern ones ever. even wirh these you will notice a different orientation if you compare them hour by hour for summer and winter.

  • ahhhh this only adds to the list of solutions to a problem i am unsure about. ;)

  • i think the "good ally" trope is nice and even usefull in that it might make us safer to have more and better alllies. but i take what i get. i won't wait for the perfect allies only.

  • lot has been said. deutsche christen werent catholics. but they sound familiar, these days.

  • i' like to add chechnya, georgia, syria, transnistria, and karabakh. for vladi. wagner also engages in africa

  • as a non-native i use tho to rebel against english orthography a bit, and because its faster – just like i side with the belgians and say septant instead of soixante-dix; or as i side with the saxons finding drei-viertel-zehn more convincing.

    non standard lingo ftw! :)

  • Trans @lemmy.blahaj.zone

what did you learn from being trans?

  • No Stupid Questions @lemmy.world

learning to play an instrument on your own, but how/what?
