Wat

  • Haha, I was actually trying to refer to some kind of solar panel that would shade pedestrians when it's hot and get outta tha way when it's not. I had forgotten that a tree is solar powered 😂

  • Yeah, a lot to think about and forward plan. In Australia I think the social engineering required to detach people from cars would be the hardest part 😅

Some kind of "deciduous" solar panel in those pedstrian areas would be cool. Or something to that effect~

  • Absolutely all of this. And agreed. But I think part of the Solar Punk ethos is to pose these questions and speculate on dream implementations of current tech in ways that can offer nicer/more staisfying outcomes. Part of that would be taking a bit more time instead of racing towards the quickest goal post. And some of the ideas will still stink, but hey haha, it's fun.

  • Hopefully OP can achieve the "design I like and well built" parts. 2 outta 3 aint bad. And if it is well built it should last a life time and then it's cost-schmost.

    Agreed on build pics!

  • I like the 1mm dunlop nylons, but why oh why do they have to come in black only. Would love a bright colour option.

  • Get ya a job in real estate quick as.

  • Crohns disease owner. Nope. Feels bad.

  • "However, researchers found given participants were likely to slightly reduce their reliance on cars, it showed experiencing car-free living, even briefly, could help people break away from automobility."I think this is an important secondary take away here. Reducing car use is still much better than continuing at current rate. (Similar to eating less meat vs going vegan cold turkey).Owning a car does come with large sunk-costs tho - so you won't feel the full financial benefit from just reducing car use (still have to pay rego, insurance, maintenance etc.)

  • But also kinda punk. Promoting de-googling on googles own platform.

  • 100%. Latex for side sleeping is so good.

  • Yup. I bailed on my YouTube subscription this year and shifted to community radio and bandcamp.

  • I did when I travelled to Finland in summer and learnt they dont have public drink fountains in parks. I got so fuggin dehydrated that day 😆

  • Sports clubs and hobby clubs for sure. In Australia we have clubs called Men's* Sheds that are for things like woodworking, but also a place to talk about mental health - things like loneliness. (*I don't think they're all so exclusively Men's sheds these days).

I play disc golf and that sometime feels like a church haha. Trying tk convince people it's an awesome sport amd get them to try it feels like trying to convert someone 😂

  • As someone who designs little mechanical systems from time to time. Those clips and latches seem super satisfying. Would be fun and challenging to design and make those.

That fret system is very cool and did it seem like they'll be selling (licensing?) it so other guitar companies/luthiers can build it into their guitars?

  • Be Kind Rewind is a quirky movie where they end up making these Mockbusters. Don't recommend if you don't like Jack Black. Do recommend if you like Mos Def.

  • That's definitely one of the more unique methods of finding new music haha

  • Not answering your question exactly, but finding community (non-commercial) radio shows in your local area that you like is a good way to find new music. Find a few shows/presenters that play music/genres you like and they should play local artists that you might not have heard. They'll also mention upcoming gigs etc.

  • I haven't heard anything to suggest they aren't. Probably a very safe bet to go another scarlet.I went the Beringher Uphoria 404 last year coz it was a lot cheaper at the 4 input mark. No real complaints so far. Only wish I could toggle 48v on/off on each channel, rather than just a global 48v.

  • I'm right there with ya. I'm thinking it might be a case of picking easy pieces (projects) of the puzzle to start with and then building from there. Like I'm considering setting a pi-hole soon - seems like an easier networking project. But yeah, I'm not really sure what's the best order of eaiest to hardest projects in terms of self hosting etc.
