  • If technology advances as rapidly as we'd expect from the last decades; especially if RAM advances to cheap 256GB, 512GB levels, then I think we can expect local AI to be a serious thing. Possibly even power training your own AIs at that level (500m, 1B, 4B, 8B).

    There is a logical limit as to what these things can do and what datasets are available. Facebook NLLB translating AI machine is 600m for example, very lightweight. But it probably trained on massive datasets. It's important that all of this is readily available for the local maker/hacker to train for themselves.

    I think it's reasonable to expect that European and other World Universities will make this information available, as it is of common interest.

    The thing is: this limiting development of machines that impedes datacenter-centered AI from working (quick obsolescence) is what could make it work locally.

  • The idea is that in a populist scenario the command chain of a dictator-like government has to repeat exactly what the leader says. And that would come from the responsible authoritarian leaders being representatives for the people. But in a way that they are the people. And that comes from a strong "I am you" image projected by the authoritarian leader.

    I will elaborate more on this later as it interests me profoundly.

  • Thankfully, the literature on it is quite extense. I have prepared some books to read on the "Authoritarian Personality" and on the "Sociology of Power". It is just a shower thought after all.

    Luckily I'll be able to make sense of this and produce something that will make it able for people to understand it as well.

  • That is already enough of a reason for a distinguished study. If a populist leader wants to force their core leaders and fellow party members into going along completely with them, that's already reason enough for a deep cut in morality, ethics and integrity.

  • I think the exact opposite. Saying that "democracy isn't for us" banishes any kind of democracy that could happen in the country. It even bans the possibility that there is a right way of democracy for the country.

    The current crimes linked to western democracy are just connected to the current state of democracy. That Burkina Faso shouldn't buy into a democracy that kills, that doesn't build hospitals, and so on. That doesn't mean the concept of democracy cannot change for implementation on the country for the future.

    Anyway, exact opposite.
