  • watching the same content on an alternative front-end, like Invidious. it can be slow at times or not load every now and then, but given that there's hardly any emeregency situations that require someone to load a video RIGHT AWAY THIS MINUTE, I find that it's a pretty good tradeoff for the lack of ads, shorts, and the ability to completely hide the comments.

  • and two years later they're gonna announce that according to their telemetry, not enough people are perfoming all those acrobatics to make maintaining it viable, and will close it off completely.

  • no they don't. they do have a partnership with Murena, which sells them preinstalled with /e/, which is a degoogled Android ROM. there is a Ubuntu Touch port available for some Fairphone models though.

  • honestly, given Graphene's social media record, I'd assume they're translating the video in the least generous way possible

  • last time I checked, Pinta didn't support layers either and had the feature set almost identical to Kolourpaint's, so it's just moving away from a Qt app to a GTK one for no gain.
