  • by the way, as a workaround, you can search the post in your own instance to get a local link like https://lemmy.world/post/27299

BUT this isn't instance-agnostic so it would again cause problems for someone who's not on lemmy.world either

  • Sweet, thanks!

  • I can't figure it out 😅 Maybe it's not possible yet?

  • I think it's a bug with 'all'. It happens to me too, but it works if I choose 'subscribed'.

  • Remember that Mlem is only a very early pre-release; it will get better!

  • It's not that dissimilar from what happens already on Reddit with lots of subs with similar names and topics.

Eventually, the best ones will prevail.

  • What's the story/context?

  • How does it compare to Owncast?

  • I still have to come across one situation in which NFTs would be better than what we currently use.

  • I would argue that Google is much worse—their entire business model is built around collecting personal information and selling advertisements.

If we talk about smartphones, Android is open source, but is very limited without Google Services (GrapheneOS is great for privacy and security, but then you cannot pay with your phone, for example, because it needs to be approved by Google).

Linux on smartphones is more of a proof-of-concept, and not really usable as a daily driver.

So, Apple is the 'least bad' option now. (and there are ways to sideload FOSS apps)

  • Apple indeed has some great hardware, and their ARM-based computers have zero real competition. Among big companies, it's also quite good re: privacy, for the most part.

  • Oh, this is really interesting! Thanks for sharing.

  • I do not like using Web3 to refer to federated platforms. Indeed, Web3 is strongly associated with blockchains, cryptocurrencies and NFTs.

  • Would you not still be able to reach a website over IPv4 even if your IP is IPv6? I know almost nothing about networks, sorry.

  • Thanks!

I still find it weird, though. I often use monospaced fonts and a double space just looks wrong to me.

  • I've mentioned this game already in a few comments recently, but I think it really deserves more attention.

Prey (2017): I've loved it since the first moment, and I still think about the story and lore very often. It's almost impossible to find a similar game (Bioshock 1 and System Shock 2 have quite some things in common with Prey, but the latter has its own unique vibe).

  • Why was a double space used?
