  • I am typing this on a Samsung Galaxy Tab with the latest LineageOS. I have flashed 6 or so Android devices by now, have never bricked one. I did have to reinstall the factory firmware on one after discovering that it did *not" support VoLTE, so it was good for everything except being a phone.

That said, it is quite possible to brick your device. If you are reasonably comfortable with CLI commands (I used Linux for all, no idea if its even possible on Windows), can follow instructions, and observe small anomalies, you should be fine. The problems usually start when one step of the procedure doesn't quite match what it says...

Also, you are probably going to forego the Google App Store. There are several FOSS app installers, F-Droid is one.

Lineage is great. I have had zero stability problems. With the officially supported devices, you get regular updates, the update process is simple and reliable. YMMV with the unofficial build.

  • She does not throw up much, and we don't have a carpet, but, yes. Must be careful to only have cat safe (and not valuable) plants around, they will nibble on them.

  • Not putting my hand in there, that's for sure.

  • That's her sister Lizzie. When she vocalizes, it's always an exclamation.

"I hate the vacuum cleaner, could you not?!"

  • I have two cats. They have taught me: "you do you":Lizzie sweeps the floor around the food bowls with her paws after eating. One can't be too neat.Emma collects little rugs and rags at her favorite scratching pad. I really can't think of a motive for this.

  • Background: I haven't used weed in decades, I have no personal interest in its legal status.

I can't think of a single bad thing that has happened. People are more open about smoking, you can smell it in the street sometimes. I live in a tourist destination, there are ads everywhere for dispensaries. I assume getting high is at least part of the attraction for visitors.

Also, I assume it has had a negative effect on illegal drugs - why bother? - but I wouldn't know anyway.

Yes, I supported it at the time, have not changed my view.

  • She knows it, too. She usually does her best "Oh, do you like me?" look, like this, when she catches you looking at her.

  • She really likes boxes, too...

  • We can adapt one of theirs, how about "Tamp the dirt down" by Elvis Costello?

  • Excellent, please do, Elon. Arguably he has never been in politics, he just bought off Trump to get a job.

  • Sure enough. Thanks, the source is reputable enough, but I should have checked it anyway.

  • Have the same brand. We just used ice trays for a while, while I made some attempts to repair (epoxy together) just the little broken part. Ultimately, I dropped the $300 and it's been flawless since.

If you ask me, ice makers are just another thing to break, but my wife considers them essential.

  • How does one go about touching more turtles? We have plenty of snapping turtles in the area but I think trying to touch them would be risky.

It's that time of year again: what are your New Year's resolutions?

  • The company I work for has few fixed holidays, but lots of discretionary time off, and very little direct customer service, so it's an individual choice. Many people take the week between Christmas and New Years off. I don't; I'd rather have extra time off when the weather is warmer and I can play outside.
