  • i know you didn't mean this in a literal way but you challenged me to find anything you complain about and it was literally your 2nd latest post on pemmy where you complained about worker's miscalibrated tools. this is just peak irony to me

  • i bought a new 2.1 system for my pc a few years ago and there isnt much that changed compared to the old ones. so you don't have to fear as much enshittification as in other Logitech branches

  • be careful with that recommendation. möbius sync is not considered a native app for syncthing and op has multiple ios devices

  • how about first getting programs to put dotfiles into the .config folder (opposed to .programname) instead of adding more folders that are inconsistent over distros for multiple years before the point of a default for IDEs and CAD programs can even be meaningfully made?

  • ffs, apart from this being a joke, have you read even the first sentence of your own link? it says: "also base 3 or trinary", right there!

  • what notable FOSS engines are there?

  • was the group actually unencrypted or are you just assuming that because it is the default setting in telegram?

  • having a tool intended for a purpose doesn't necessarily mean it fits that description without issues. the xmpp world is filled with a heterogenous plethora of clients of various quality and encryption duct-taped on top of about a third (made up/guesstimated number based on nothing but my gut feeling having gone down that rabbit hole partly). even if i convinced all of my friends to switch, there wpuld be no client for all platforms and learning miltiple programs to use a single protocol is bad UX imho

  • i also have a mumble server but every once in a while we need streaming. what is your rtmp setup? i am thinking of mediamtx, but am annoyed by having to post the link to the stream every time and everyone needs to resize windows manually to fit all on ome screen.

  • what do you mean? like, not urls to your vorners, but I'd like to hear your version of the old imternet you say is still there? you mean small blogs? custom made homelages?

  • why this instead of pandoc?

  • could you also send me a DM how you set that up? since you said you are in IT i feel comfortable enough to dare ask if there is any chance to run one on a linux system?

  • b/c they all fail as everyone is going for ai marketed cr*p

  • how did you do it? mine does not start after installing.

  • it "just" has to be someone with a good idea they are passionate about. you think of only hosted services, but there is also the option of a normal file, syncthing sended back and forth aside from selfhosted options such as collabora just asan example.

wdym even catbox? this is just a filehoster...

  • i see many comments here suggesting other paid proprietary tools and just want to add that you should please consider exclusively FOSS solutions. replacing google with another company saying: "trust me, bro", just does not cut it anymore. the internet is filled with stories of professionals losing work, because insert big tech company suspended their accounts, trains their AI without disclosure or just leaked your credentials and apologizes by makung a whoopsie post and suggesting you just change your password.

the more open, local and established your setup is, the less you are going to have those headaches and can focus on actually working, even if it means a little more hurdles with setup and less flashy features.

    don't be a sheep
