  • I don't really feel any sympathy for them.

  • I'm playing it on Linux Mint, and it was stalling and crashing right after pressing enter in the start screen. I switched to Proton 11.0 (Beta) and it solved the problem. Just for anyone who may have the same issue.

  • Thanks for hoping, I don't.

  • They can't stop it, it's hilarious. Good news.

  • Good, please do this. It's so fucking unnecessary to change the clock, and it's a nonpartisan issue. I bet someone could do a deep analysis of how much it costs us each year during that hour time change, people showing up late, missing appointments, traffic patterns, etc.

🕒 The Real Cost of "Springing Forward"

Changing the clocks isn't just annoying—it is a massive, self-inflicted tax on our health, safety, and economy. Here is what that one hour of lost sleep actually costs us every year:

    • 💸 The Direct Economic Hit: Economic analysis pegs the immediate cost of the spring transition at over 672 million dollars in lost productivity, wages, and medical costs.
    • 📉 The Productivity Crash: Workplace productivity drops by roughly 20% on the Monday following the time change.
    • 🚗 Danger on the Roads: Fatal car accidents spike by 6% during the first workweek of Daylight Saving Time, as millions of sleep-deprived commuters are suddenly forced back into driving in pitch-black morning conditions.
    • 🏥 Severe Health Spikes: Heart attacks increase by 24% on the Monday after the shift. Workplace injuries jump by 5.7%, and because workers are fatigued, those injuries tend to be far more severe—resulting in 67.6% more days lost from work.
    • 💡 The "Energy Saving" Myth: The original excuse for DST was to save energy, but modern studies show the actual global savings are a microscopic 0.3%. In fact, many regions see energy bills go up because of increased morning heating and extended evening air conditioning.

The Bottom Line: We are tanking our health, risking lives on the road, and bleeding hundreds of millions of dollars every single year—all to chase a century-old lighting rule that doesn't even save energy anymore.

  • Richest country in the world.

  • Drump will go down as one of the worst presidents in US history.

  • They want BEV owners to feel the same financial shit as those who made bad decisions buying massive gas guzzlers. It's a ploy to get people avoid buying BEVs now that they're seeing them gain popularity. They won't be able stop the transition that's coming, BEVs are the future, more efficient, cleaner, resilient to global geopolitical shit.

  • I imagine it looking something like this

  • Drump doesn't give a shit about US citizens. We should be given priority when it comes to buying farmland.

  • It's still so weird to me to think about how we have more advanced technology and more trade across the planet, yet it seems like our quality of life is being lowered. Ultimately, the reason the 1950s felt different wasn't because the technology was better, it's because the economic guardrails were different. The system we have now isn't broken; it's functioning exactly as it was redesigned to function over the last 40 years: capturing the immense wealth generated by modern efficiency and funneling it straight to the top.

  • Maybe some, but can't you actually get one that's made well? I've seen a few for a couple hundred.

  • A false analogy. Every room in a house is not every apartment in a building.

  • They aren't too expensive really, and I think it's a great thing for people to have something like this that doesn't rely on anything digital at all.

  • A movie seems like a terrible idea for a first date, you spend all that time watching the movie instead of actually focusing on each other. Coffee is one of the best things to do.

  • Yeah Lake Michigan is all fresh water, but still needs purification and filtration to drink it which takes significantly less energy than desalination if it was salt. And yes, it's as far as the eye can see, Chicago is never really at risk of running out of water geographically speaking, we haven't gotten anywhere near using enough water to be concerned.

  • Yea, but it doesn't make me garbage, it makes the system garbage. Electing a true progressive in 2028 is our last chance to avoid a revolution.
