  • Yeah the criticism tends to go to extremes here sometimes. I remember one open source project being criticized just because some AI assisted commits were added and people were saying that it should be forked and shit just because of that.

I'm definitely very against the way companies try to shove it down our throats and make use of it in ridiculous ways and destroy the environment by putting no limits to its use, but the problem as usual is the socioeconomic system behind the tool and not the tool itself.

  • The Threads issue was not polarizing at all, almost everyone here was clearly on the side that Meta can fuck right off

AI on the other hand does have serious arguments on both sides. What would the resulting decisions even be?

  • I especially feel irritated when they credit god over actual people that made something happen, like thanking god over a surgeon that just saved your life

  • Not at all, if anything it's the least frustrating one. Every defeat gives you something to learn from, whether it was a huge blunder you made or just your general strategy and missed opportunities. It was all a direct result of your playing against your opponents playing, it's probably the most balanced game ever made which makes sense since it's been played for literally centuries.

Other games like League of Legends, or TCGs like Magic or Riftbound for example, are unbelievably more frustrating. In online MOBAs you can just get matched with a team diff you can do absolutely nothing about and just have to wait until defeat losing your time in the process. And in said TCGs skill does play a role but it also has a lot to do with being lucky with your draws, having enough cards in your deck which cost money, or having spent enough time before the game to learn about all the possible cards an opponent could have or all the good combos you can make with your own cards, turning the game from a match of skill to a match of skill, luck, time and money all together.

  • I didn't find the option, how do you create them from the UI?

  • I’d rather find any info on whatever challenge I’m trying to solve, even if it’s wrong, than no info whatsoever.

Unsure if this is irony, but if it isn't why wouldn't you just ask AI directly instead of polluting StackOverflow with AI answers?

  • Worth pointing out here that this is the mentality of the oh so authoritarian and scary communist devs of Lemmy, while the "anti-authoritarian" one is making sure to insert as much as possible of his personal bias hardcoded into the project and then lash out at random people for calling him out on it.

Sorry to continue the infighting a bit but the contradiction here is just glaring. I appreciate your stance and the Fediverse would never be what it is without people like you

  • It's horrifying that this happens and it's just Monday, no breaking news headlines, no public outcries, just another day in Gaza

  • yeah I do the same lol

That's the easiest and most rewarding way to contribute without making it a full hobby by going to places specifically to map them, it feels great when I lookup the same thing after some time and it just works now

  • I feel like it helps with digestion after eating heavily, but I can't even picture someone literally drinking them for hydration

  • Open Street Maps based apps to be extremely lacking

This should be more of a shared responsibility, it's not an app's fault but the simple fact that OSM lacks a lot of information in many areas. That's why it's so important to contribute to OSM even a little bit, just mapping your own street block and nothing else is already a huge improvement.

  • Also pretty obvious from the stupid diagrams AI loves to make in the README

  • Not yet, it's spooky scary skeleton time, then it's monster time, then communism

  • Probably the fact that their little Iran adventure was a complete failure I guess, had to turn their gaze elsewhere for an easier win

I hope they eat dirt just like they did with the Bay of Pigs invasion and Cuba manages to become energy sovereign before it breaks

  • League of Legends

  • The world doesn't revolve around the sex crimes of your leaders that you choose to do nothing about.

Cuba is being starved because of a decade long embargo the US is inflicting on it in order to bring about regime change and be able to exploit their local resources again as they used to before the revolution.

  • True for some of them but many of them are very based and do a lot more irl stuff.

Socialist orgs definitely have things to learn from them in terms of mutual aid for example, I find that very lacking in these circles while anarchists take it very seriously

  • Someone could argue that action should be taken against an instance admin like Rimu creating public lists of undesirables and calling for bans against them for no reason other than posting things he didn't agree with, but then the Piefed people would go up in flames saying ooh .ml is so authoritarian etc. etc.
