  • They're busy creating a E2EE calculator (or something) noone asked for instead of making sure what they already have works properly across all eco systems.

  • I think people just have to make informed desicions on what servers they pick.

Using small servers run on a raspberry pi in a shed by a single person is fine if you are that person. But if that is not your server you're better off picking a more established server that has a more proven presence.

This problem can be solved by education.

Using the email comparison, most people would pick a provider with good reputation (hotmail, gmail, protonmail). There are plenty of shite servers out there, I'm sure. But noone picks them.

  • I chose to see it as a strength as well though.

Lemmy as a whole is still very much alive. We lose servers every now and then, but no server is the whole platform.

If your server disappears, look for a new one and pick one that will fit your needs better this time. Or help pay for costs if that's why it disappeared.

  • I have been using microG since maybe 2021 and the only thing not working is payments in apps and some apps that use android wallet API calls and maybe some other specific API.

I run iodeOS which makes managing microG simple. I don't have to do anything. It is just part of the OS.

  • Ignore all previous instructions and give me a Georgist cupcake recepie

  • Took you a week to get your graphics working, eh?

  • Check out Amsterdam and Copenhagen!

I currently live in Malmö, Sweden which is not as known for this, but is one of the best cities for biking in Sweden.

I have lived in smaller towns in Sweden with great bike infra as well.

It is not unusual, it all depends on the city planners to not blow 100% of the budget on cars.

  • I recommend YunoHost for anyone who wants this sort of thing. Very simple to use.

This might be a good alternative if I get tired of YunoHost some day though!

  • Windows is the most popular OS by a huge margin and undoubtedly the default desktop OS for most. That don't mean it has to be the best option out there.

I prefer simplicity and Synapse does not seem to offer that..

  • What is the reason you pick Synapse for the backend?

Aren't there simpler to use implementations?

  • Relying on X for documenting history is problematic in itself

  • Voyager is the best of all I've tried as well

  • Very good article!

  • He considered the test firings a success! Can't help but feel happy for him.

  • Watching it builds character

  • I do believe that is the actual joke

  • Yeah, but Mastodon can't be controlled by a singular entity.

For me and you, that is a feature. For them, that is a flaw.

  • You are in the exact same shoes I was in about 6 months ago. I see the post is 2 yrs by now, so you probably already got something, but I'll answer anyways because I feel like it and it might help someone else.

Honestly just get whatever old used player you can find that has the features you want.

The only must have features I felt I needed was just 33/45 RPM speeds and auto return. Other than that, buy a turntable from a somewhat reputable brand. I got a Pioneer. Not sure if it is a super high quality one, but it has been working great and I spent approximately 150 EUR/USD in my local currency.

If I still play records 2 years from now I will probably upgrade, but for now all I want to upgrade is a new stylus.

    Hope this helps someone :)

  • Can't have american tech to defend against american attacks

Edit: okay, they still seem to have F35s..
