I created a space for people to make connections and learn from each other. I call it Grok.Town and plan to start up a Lemmy instance at that domain, but for now it's a space on Matrix with a few rooms to chat and get to know one another. Check it out @ https://matrix.to/#/#groktown:matrix.org

  • Keep talking with your psychiatrist.

  • They're like a gas tank, right?

  • I don't think the charging stations are making anyone but the installers any money either.

  • Same can be said for air compressors at gas stations.

  • Tesla is doing the same thing every US car manufacturer has, sell luxury at luxury prices to markets that can afford luxury, ignore everything else until competition eats the majority of the market, continue to sell luxury vehicles to people who see their vehicle as part of their personal image.

India is generally not part of that strategy.

  • Dealerships are very concerned about losing their main source of profits, the service department.

  • Tidal turbines are designed to be noisy enough to deter marine life but not so noisy that there are detrimental health and ecological effects. Not sure how successful this strategy is, but the scale of deployments is still small and more study and monitoring should be done before the scale makes big impacts from even small effects.

Here's a blog post from an engineering firm that works on these issues:https://eandt.theiet.org/2024/03/21/designing-tidal-turbines-are-safe-marine-life

  • Seems like it's pretty much like any other surface in your kitchen, it requires regular cleaning.

  • Their arguments seem very week in context. It's no wonder that ACK4Whales' law suit was ruled against in court.

  • Ford recently announced their decision to use their facility built for the purpose of expanding their EV supply to instead manufacturer more ICE pick-up trucks.

  • The most recent group of people that acted on their emotional desires in this vain did so in support of the man who is taking money from a billionaire (hundred-billionare?) to stay in power in exchange for changing their policy position to favor the donor. This group failed and many were convicted of federal crimes.

  • They're the old HP of cars. Rivian is the new HP of cars.

  • That's an exercise for the reader

  • The sodium used is part of a compound and not pure sodium. Sodium ion batteries have been shown to be less susceptible to explosions/thermal runaway.

  • I'm unfamiliar with that.

  • The research they're reporting on hasn't been shown to others yet. The researcers carried out an analysis of patent data.

  • Great review video!

I hope something like this can enter the US market. But I know that's a very long shot.

  • The Spanish plant will assemble cars from kits that have been partially “knocked down”, according to Chery. Typically, such vehicles are made in cheaper locations, taken apart and then reassembled closer to where they are sold. The process, common in auto manufacturing, will allow Chery to avoid EU tariffs imposed on finished cars.

There's got to be a better way to deal with the issues that have lead to this arrangement.

  • They don't even sell ICE or Hybrid Taurus or Focus models in the US. They want to sell trucks and SUVs only.
