  • i think you forgot the "/s"

  • dr. david suzuki pours himself another scotch and sighs.

  • totalcommander.exe for the win!

  • oh the turntables, back in the 90's the stereotype was the 10 year old showing the 60 year old how to use the "computator", nowadays maybe it's the 60 year old showing the 10 year old there are open source alternatives for image editing apps, office apps, and most things with a tappable tablet interface.

  • yeah, we'd need more Geosities banner ads and

    <flash/>

    html tags to go back to the Macweb1.0/Mosaic era. ....Sometimes I still visit zombo.com to feel young again.

  • i share your memory

  • kind of like when back in usenet days a usenet server could choose to not include certain newsgroups, such as someone not wanting to store all the data for alt.binaries.pron.hamsters on their server or whatnot?

  • alt.lemmy.shitposting

  • instead of fediverse perhaps it should be fedoraverse

  • Call me whatever you want, when I hear "Lemmy" I think Motorhead, so maybe we're "Kilmisters"

  • Thunderbird with Lightning to reproduce all the outlook functionality

    so what happens if the server i have a user account on disappears? does my account disappear and I just make a new one on a different server? do all the posts/comments disappear like if a user deletes their account on reddit?

  • yes, usenet user from way back, so this all makes sense. So I could start the group "spandex hamsters" all about making ballet unitards for hamsters, and it will show up as a community for all Lemmy users (Lemmings?). ie. everyone has the ability to make alt.hamsters.spandex in the old Usenet parlance.

    cool beans, thanks.

  • i'm going to start adding this lemmysub to my pic posts every friday for sure.

  • we're here aren't we (grin). Looking forward to seeing how this plays out for sure.

  • yes, its origins were great, it's finale is not so great. I suspect if Aaron were alive he'd be livid. I also think reddit's demise might be the intended outcome, like BCG is at the helm or somesuch.
