  • Move fast and break things vs move slow and break things

  • To expand on this, the Blue Moon lander family is building up a huge manifest. In roughly this order, I count 7ish missions:

    • Mk1 Pathfinder: land on the moon 2026
    • Mk1: land Viper rover 2027
    • Mk2 Pathfinder: Artemis 3 docking target 2027
    • Mk1: land Lunar Outpost crew rover for A4
    • Mk1: land Astrolab crew rover for A4
    • Mk2: uncrewed demo landing
    • Mk2: crewed lunar landing for Artemis... 6?

That is an obscene amount of hardware for Blue, which was already going to be a huge challenge, but further delaying the launch of Mk1 Pathfinder makes things even worse for the future vehicles.

They have played us for absolute fools

Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket explodes during prelaunch testing at Cape Canaveral

  • They were starting to ramp up into what seemed like it could be a decent cadence, too. This is not going to be a quick turnaround. A year long stand down might still not be enough to rebuild the pad. This one hurts.

  • Uhh I would just excitedly say "Yep!"

  • Marco Inaros is back at it again

  • They should use the proper name, The Bean

Anything but the metric system, lol

  • Space based solar companies I can think of. I have no idea which, if any, are "legit":

    Volta: space to moon

    Starcatcher: space to space

    Cowboy Space: space to earth

    Reflect Orbital: space to earth

    Overview: space to earth

  • Ok and then cross reference that with how I actually sit in a chair

And the padded armrest one wins easily

  • I did that for a few months for 2 meals a day while I was in college and interning and had no time for anything. Idk, it's sustenance. The mix left a nasty flavor in a thermos that I could never get out. The bottles were super convenient.

  • FWIW Blue Origin and Amazon are not the same, despite the Bezos connection. Blue does have a contract to launch a bunch of Amazon satellites, but so does everyone else with a working rocket (and some without).

  • I'm here for it

  • It's cool to see concepts like this, even if I don't expect anything like it to happen anytime soon.

Another one that comes to mind is ThinkOrbital's spherical station made from welding together rigid panels like a soccer ball.

  • I miss the golden era of Netflix when they had everything. Now that all the streaming platforms balkanized... Fuck em.

  • And he'll probably use "so dangerous, I get attempted murders" as marketing

  • It should get clearer in the next few months with the first Starship v3 launch and when Blue Moon Mk1 gets out of TVAC and launches. If those keep slipping or go poorly then the LEO demo next year is off the table and 2028 for a landing is definitely off.

  • The amount of times I've gone to look up a topic that I know something about and see something wrong in the AI summary that I didn't ask for...

  • Orion isn't Dragon, Starliner, or Dream Chaser, though. There was much much heavier NASA involvement in all the minute requirements and designs compared to those other examples.
