Russian frigate escorts sanctioned tankers through British waters despite PM’s vow to seize vessels

Vladimir Putin has openly defied Sir Keir Starmer’s threat to seize sanctioned Russian vessels by sending a warship to escort them through the Channel.

The Admiral Grigorovich, a Black Sea fleet frigate, accompanied a pair of shadow fleet ships on Wednesday while a British naval vessel followed behind.

Admiral Grigorovich – a 3,620-ton frigate armed with anti-ship, cruise and surface-to-air missiles – sailed between the two 600ft tankers Universal and Enigma shortly after 9am on Wednesday as they headed west toward Plymouth.

Since January, more than 300 ships from Putin’s shadow fleet have sailed through UK waters, according to analysts.

Seizing every ship in the shadow fleet would be impractical for Britain, maritime experts have said.

The authorities would have to commit substantial resources, including troops from either the Royal Marines or the elite Special Boat Service, as well as law enforcement teams.

The vessels would also need to be moored somewhere after being captured and Britain has a limited number of berths in ports capable of holding such large ships, which average about 800ft in length.

Britain’s defence investment plan is still months behind schedule, having missed its autumn due date. It is supposed to outline exactly what will be spent on the military over the next decade.

After an Iranian-made drone hit RAF Akrotiri, HMS Dragon, Britain’s only deployable destroyer, was sent to the Middle East, but took three weeks to arrive and has already had to return to port as it suffers water supply issues.

According to locals in Bahrain, a Patriot interceptor missile this morning, fell on people’s houses.

So far the general opinion of people in Iran, 6 hours since the announcement of ceasefire talks:

    • People congratulate each other for the cessation of fire.
    • Most people believe the ceasefire will not last for long.
    • Most people did not mind the war to last longer, and wanted more attacks against Israel, US and the “2-faced” Arab regimes.

Up and till an hour ago, Kuwait says its air defenses were confronting an Iranian drone attack since 8 AM

Iran’s IRGC gives details on the last wave, the 100th wave of attacks against 25 targets. This includes 13 US-affiliated energy & oil complexes, 10 military, security, and logistical targets, and several technology and infrastructure targets.

Deadly attacks by Israel on Lebanon’s Beirut with many casualties sadly…

BREAKING: Iran’s IRGC just shot down an Israeli Hermes-900 drone in Fars Province.

Iran is finalising plans to respond to Israel's ceasefire violations on Lebanon. A security-military informed source told the official Fars News outlet:

Following Israel’s continued violation of the temporary ceasefire against Lebanon and Hezbollah, Iran is in the process of finalising to carry out deterrent operations against Israeli military positions in ‘Israel’.

This source emphasized: In Tehran, the notion is being strengthened that the continuation of attacks by the regime despite agreements on all fronts indicates that either the US cannot control Netanyahu or the US Central Command has granted freedom of action to the Zionist regime.

Iran’s Foreign Minister spoke with the commander of the Pakistan army (mediator) on the phone. Both sides discussed the ceasefire violations in Iran and Lebanon by the Israeli regime. Iran likely informed the mediator that it will respond to Israel.

Saudi Arabia’s MoD says its air defenses were responding to an Iranian drone attack. (Second post) An oil industry source told Reuters that Saudi Arabia's huge east-west pipeline to the Red Sea has been hit with reported damage. The pipeline is the main route Saudi used to bypass the Strait of Hormuz for some of its oil.

Iran’s spokesperson of the parliament's national security commission: The Lebanese sacrificed their lives for us, and we must not leave them alone for a moment. Ceasefire either on all fronts or on no front.

Iran told mediators it will only join Iran-US talks in Pakistan if a ceasefire is reached in Lebanon — WSJ

Iran has halted the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz after Israel’s ceasefire violations against Lebanon — Fars

Air defense activity over Isfahan, Iran (Second post) Following reports of air defense activity in several places inside Iran, there seems to be no reported explosion anywhere. The sound of explosions has been attributed to air defense activity.

  • Iranian air defense shot down another MQ-9 Reaper drone.

  • Examples of Iranian missile strikes and the helplessness of missile defense systems. A video appeared showing a strike on the headquarters of the US 5th Fleet in Bahrain, another showing US soldiers hiding and something (not shrapnel) falling from the sky in Erbil, Iraq, and another one of a strike on one of the combat units at a US base in Jordan.

Videos of MQ-9 Reaper drones shot down by Iranian air defenses. 16 destroyed so far at around $33 million each according to public sources.

Iran displayed the wreckage of a Chinese Wing Loong 2 unmanned aerial vehicle, which according to authorities in Tehran was shot down near the city of Shiraz. It was initially assumed to be another MQ-9 Reaper, but a comparison of photos of the wreckage suggests that it was a Chinese-made drone. Judging by the missile debris it was shot down by the 9-Dey short-range air defense system, a modification of the 3rd Khordad medium-range air defense system. The Wing Loong 2 MALE-class unmanned aerial vehicles are not used by the US or Israel, but are in the possession of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

A video appeared of an Israeli missile striking an Iranian ZU-23-2 23mm anti-aircraft gun mounted on the roof of a high-rise building in Tehran.

An image showing the arrival of a US EA-37B Compass Call electronic warfare aircraft at Mildenhall Air Base in the UK. A day earlier, two EA-37B aircraft with registration numbers 19-1587 and 17-5579 were spotted flying from the US to the UK under the call signs AXIS41 and AXIS43.

A video showing the launch of what appear to be ER GMLRS missiles from HIMARS rocket launchers on Bubiyan Island in Kuwait toward targets in Iran. The ER GMLRS is a variant of the GMLRS missile with an extended range of up to 150 kilometers.

Images and videos showing the aftermath of bombing of ammunition and missile depots in the mountains near the city of Isfahan.

According to reports, 18 A-10C attack aircraft from the 107th National Guard Squadron took off from Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire and landed in the UK.

Since March 13, US Air Force transport aircraft have made at least 10 flights from Fort Bragg (Pope AFB) and Fort Campbell. At least four flights from Fort Campbell with stopovers at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, continuing to Nevatim Air Base in Israel and Aqaba Airport in Jordan. At least six flights took off from Pope AFB, which is part of Fort Bragg, five of them on March 22-23. Some of them also landed at Nevatim (Israel), while the rest landed at King Abdullah II Air Base in Jordan.
