  • The battery recalls on 4a and 6a for one, I believe you get more RAM, better camera and most importantly better QC on an 8 Pro compared to 9a if the past still holds true.

  • Reviews on Steam makes it seem promising, but I'll wait for a gog.com release before buying.

  • On a larger scale? Through organizing and engaging in communities, politics and unions. No one can stop it alone.

On a personal scale?Stop consuming more than you need. Maintain what you already own. Don't buy it because it's better than what you have, if what you have is already good enough. Buy second hand when you can. Lend and loan with friends when it comes to seldomly used tools.

Buy maintainable stuff instead of the cheap copy that has no repairability (Think of the boots theory and don't get tricked into spending more in the long term just to spend less now).

And the hardest bit would be to stop comparing yourself and your life with that of those around you, I think that the rat race is the main driver of consumption together with all that wealth peacocking.

  • That sounds reasonable and I can understand the decision.theguardian.com only gave us this for context:

The chorus of Conte’s empowerment anthem contains the phrase “serving kant” – a queer or drag slang phrase roughly meaning “to express boldness”.

  • With the abundance of languages in the EU I imagine that allows us to find quite many words that are phonetically similar to rude words of other languages.Wouldn't it be fun to see if it's only the English language that are afforded such privileges of denial?

On the other hand I don't really care what happens in the eurovision song contest.

  • duckduckgo is one of the few search engines that doesn't require javascript to function.Removes all the fancy stuff and leaves you with search results and nothing else.

  • theguardian.com works just fine without allowing javascript to run at all, and don't seem to load the trackers if you deny cookies. I did get a page popup where they pleaded but didn't force me to subscribe if I allowed the optout domain to run javascript.

  • Ah yes, the scanner software company Thorn that's trying to lobby chat control into existence in the EU. Sorry but I don't trust them or their surveys.

That said, spreading deepfakes of others without their consent is obviously wrong.

  • Their site works fine without allowing javascript, that way it turns into quite a simple thing too!

  • SnappyMail seem to be a fork of Rainloop and both Rainloop and Snappymail appear to allow multiple providers - https://snappymail.eu/Cypht seems to be a similar solution where you selfhost a webserver that acts as a web client to external email providers - https://www.cypht.org/documentation/I find nothing about push notifications for either of those solutions though, and I'm not sure about how much the webclients cache.

  • Some developers make gog users second rate citizens, some don't publish on gog at all. I wouldn't call it a sinking ship though, later years they've had more big name games such as Baldur's Gate 3 than before.

Also, if gog shuts down tomorrow I can still install all my games from the installers on my network share, something I can't say about steam.
