  • even though you set tags you basically access everything through typing?

I have thee tags come up in a windows screen in the lower right corner. I guess since Windows 3.11 for Workgroups was my first OS I can't turn my back on the windows environment completely. 🙂

  • Thanks . Tried it out but the widget I Wowz 'Current 2' does not display the barometric reading when I place on home screen.

Only displays two of 4 meausurements on that particular widget.

The measurements I would like displayed on my weather widget are

    1. Barometric Pressure
    2. Relative Humidity
    3. Dew Point
    4. UV Index
    5. Air Quality
    6. Basic measurements like temp, wind speed, etc.
    7. Severe weather alert indicator

Bonus would be precipitation chance percentage. When Ilookeed through WEOWOW options didn't see one where I could customize to get my list of wants on one or twowidgets setup.

I am willing to pay as in one time payment for this weather widget.

  • That I can see, lol. Plus can't ask my question in that community. I believe its against that communities rules. They direct those to AskAndroid.

  • I am subscribed to Lemmy.world instance and I still don't have weather@lemmy.world show in search results.

Looks like different Lemmy App is in order.

  • Dang, When I search using Jerboa app I am not seeing any of the ones in your screenshots 🙁

  • No Stupid Questions @lemmy.world

How to successfully find a weather related community on Lemmy?

  • KISS launcher

Especially when pairing it with the Panels App

KISS has a small footprint is very fast and really makes my smartphone experience super efficient. I toggle minimalistic on, change search engine to Brave/DuckDuckGo, set six favorites to show as icons at home screen bottom, assign tags to shortcuts such as favorite websites or tools such as compass, barometer, speed meter, distance calculator, etc.

You can have a tag category show up as a window from the bottom right settings menu.

Kiss also has a very effective search component. Literally the only scrolling needed will be doom scrolling on ones favorite social media app.

Widget functionality could be better but can be supplemented by said Panels app.

I have used hundreds of Android Apps since my first smartphone around 10 years ago and KISS is my most favorite of all (open source or regular) due to how its impacted how I use my phone.

  • I root for the underated Beatles songs.

For me it is essentially a tie between

I Don't Want to Spoil the Party and I'm Looking Through You

  • Look at a picture of Richard Simmons in a speedo. That should do it.

  • Start at the very top press and hold both fingers and follow through all the way to the bottom.

Basically follow through the motion all way to bottom OR swipe with both to at least mid screen and then flick downward with momentum. Can't see why it wouldn't work for your phone 🤔

  • OK after more digging they are called Progressive Web Apps (PWA'S)

Noe that I found proper term I am getting many results.

  • Thanks for reply. Do those have an .app extension? Where can they be found ?

  • I stumbled upon a useful website but come to find out its also a web app?!

The domain is .app. So what is cool is I was able to create its own entry in my phones app list by clicking the add to Home Screen button on Firefox.

My question is where can I find a website with lists of these with categories even

I didn't have much success with search engine queries. Thanks!.

  • Thanks for the nice rundown. I shall try it on my tablet.

  • Same. Do you use the tag feature? I have put it to good use after some tweaking. I won't be able to live without KISS either going forward.

  • I was a Nova evangelist until their being sold to a data analytics company.

But I absolutely love KISS launcher especially when pairing it with the Panels App

Nova Launcher may have more overall customization but KISS has enough.

Kiss also has a very impressive search component. Literally the only scrolling needed will be doom scrolling on ones favorite social media app.

Widget functionality not the greatest but the Panels App allows me to tuck them away under a sidebar. It takes a good amount of customization but the KISS/Panels combo delivers a sublime experience for my use case.

  • Samsung phones have so many quality of life improvements over the default Android experience that I don't think I can get away from them just from software alone (why do you have to scroll down twice to change the brightness on normal Android it's the most important function in the quick menu)>

Only have to scroll down once but using two fingers. I am using Android 12 Motorola UX. I assume that stock Android would be similar.

  • I've had several Samsung phones over the years and do not like how bloated their apps have become like Samsung Notes, Samsung Health, and such. I liked their software experience when S5 was released much better. Remember Milk Music? 🙂

The only reason to buy a Samsung these days is their top shelf hardware but primarily in. their flagships. Also had hardware issue with last Samsung flagship device I owned and then awful tech support from Samsung to boot.

Moto has really upped their game especially in their Moto G 2023 5G models.(U.S. here) I'll be sticking with Moto mid-range going forward.

  • Holy +$@#$%-!! I was floating in the Pacific Ocean for weeks 🥶 after the ship sank. A kind Samaritan pulled me aboard and I'm now safe and sound 🤗💯 in the BoostforLemmy community.

Also am very much looking forward to the impending app release!
