  • I haven’t watched international soccer since they awarded Russia and Qatar with the World Cup. Fucking corrupt pieces of shit supporting the worst people.

  • Mexican street corn. Amazing stuff

  • Everyone knows that Bernard Montgomery Sanders shot jfk on that fateful day

  • “Mistakenly deported”???

  • I mean sure. I’m just commenting on the fact that genocide should have been the first line because it is genocide.

  • It’s crazy that this is the line. This mother fucker has been one of the biggest cheerleaders of a genocide that has killed thousands of men, women, and children. But I guess Palestinians aren’t people to these fucks

  • Me with all four at ungodly play times. If it only had DCSS included too

  • I really enjoy your snarky tone, but can you explain how any consumption tax regardless of labeling are not regressive when poor people consume a lot more of their income than people with people with higher incomes? Sure you can mitigate this by only taxing x products or offering rebates to poor folk. But it just seems like it is inherent to the system.

It seems to me that progressive income taxes, direct taxes on profits of corporations, wealth taxes, and the like are much better targeted and don’t harm the poorest among us. But I’m from a “ridiculous country” so what do I know?

  • Sales taxes are regressive. The poorest people pay way more of their income to buy things at stores. Therefore they are getting taxed a lot more than someone who saves money because they have bigger incomes

  • If there is one place in the US that doesn’t need to be taking climate change and the expected sea rise seriously it is FL. They are pretty much untouchable given how it is an interior state with high elevations.

  • Locked

Why does Lemmy.ML admire authoritarian regimes ?

  • “Its the antiimperialism of idiots”

  • Same. No reason to switch as I have no desire to tinker

  • Fuck this guy in particular

  • According to the tomatoes Wikipedia article, tomatoes were definitely domesticated and eaten by indigenous folk in the americas by 500 BC.

My point is that the people who domesticated the tomato never feared it. Europeans propagated the myth that it was harmful and people who’d been eating it for millennia never took that seriously.

  • *europeans.

People in the americas had been eating them for a long ass time by the time the Columbian exchange happened

  • I don’t believe I am better. Just very lucky in that one way

  • I’m from a very wealthy family and I find people treat me normal if I just live a normal middle class life.

  • I’ll answer it in terms of the people of Rojava fighting ISIS. They accepted American support even though they are against governments. They fought with air support against an evil totalitarian system and totally destroyed that system. Is the US a good actor? No. But if I was in the YPG I’d want that air support. And I’ve read many accounts of YPG and YPJ soldiers who state that.

I don’t know anything about Iranians because it is locked down there. But I assume the people fighting that government are making similar calculations.

It is so easy for a person living a comfortable western life to judge the people fighting these wars for freedom. I’m not going to sit in judgement because they weren’t pure enough and I greatly dislike those who do.

  • Easy for someone not making those decisions to say
