  • Having been through university proves you respect deadlines and can follow orders competently, especially if they're complicated, poorly expressed, or totally arbitrary. Degrees are super common nowadays so if you're an employer, you're gonna want the candidate that has proof of being at least somewhat intelligent and obedient over a candidate that doesn't, all else equal.

  • When I remark to Jews that we all are responsible for ending Zionism and the ongoing Palestinian genocide, I usually hear, “Not all Jews / Say Zionists, not Jews / There are actually more Christian Zionists than Jewish ones.” Well I am speaking to Jews right now, a people who support fascist Zionism in lockstep across every institution in our community.

    The article even directly addresses this hand wringing in its opening paragraphs. It's the norm for Jewish communities to not only approve of Zionism but to directly materially support it because the religion is so deeply enmeshed with colonization at this point. Every Jew therefore has a responsibility to destroy the Zionism within Judaism because whether they like it or not, they are involved in this. They can either contribute towards ending it or perpetuating it but there is no neutral stance.

    The responses here remind me of how Americans get when a foreigner denounces the US. "Hate the government not the people," "I didn't ask for this either," "I just live here." Ok guys then fucking do something about it.

  • You have to use the pipe character | between each entry on the table. And between the header and the data, you need to define how many columns there are with hyphens. It's weird but look at my comment's source for an example. The spacing between the pipes and text doesn't matter bc that gets formatted away.

  • Tu idea tiene sentido y es la misma razón por la que se creyó este sitio. Es decir, para ser un espacio liberado de la política de reddit.

    Sí que el mundo hispano carece una alternativa socialista y disculpa por ser derrotista. Solo es que, si tal foro existiera y fuera megapopular, estoy seguro de que nadie de mi familia o de mis colegas lo usaría siquiera. Ellos prefieren mucho las publicaciones de video al vez de texto por lo que usan facebook, youtube shorts, y tiktok exclusivamente. No sé si esto es una brecha cultural o si las cosas son así solo donde yo estoy, pero el caso es que será mucho más costoso mantener una red social de videos y por lo tanto más difícil hacerlo independientemente.

    Ay, pero estoy pensando demasiado en la logística de algo que ni existe. Hay mucha más gente que mi mamá y estoy seguro que un foro izquierdista en español podría ser exitoso. Claro está, porque si todavía hay gente usando twitter es por una falta total de mejores opciones jaja

  • Para ser sincero yo jamás he visitado ningún foro hispanohablante pues todo lo popular es en inglés. Eché un vistazo a forocoches y no puedo creer que logra tener casi un millón de miembros. O tal vez sí, dado que semejantes foros en inglés tienen 30x más gente como el de stack overflow.

    Todos hablamos el inglés en línea incluso cuando no es el idioma nativo del uno ni el otro, como lo es entre tú y yo. Dudo que eso cambiará hasta que latinoamérica (y españa supongo) se independice de la infraestructura de los EEUU porque no hay razón para los creadores reducir sus audiencias con un cambio de lenguaje ya que ganan más dinero de los americanos. No quiero ser un aguafiestas pero si forocoches es el foro más popular en español y ellos ni tienen un millón entonces ¿qué tanto podemos crecer una plataforma comunista? Nuestras comunidades hispanas aquí en lemmygrad son casi vacías…

  • Information about the closure of Myrient

    Hello everyone,

    I have decided to shut down Myrient on 31 March 2026. Until then, the site will continue to remain available in its current state. Please download any content you find important, as you have around one month to do so. There are several reasons for the closure:

    • Insufficient funding: As traffic continued to increase last year, the amount of funding from donations remained the same. I have been paying more than $6000 out of pocket every month in order to cover the difference which is not sustainable.

    • Paywalled download managers: In the past several months, many specialized download managers were created that completely bypassed the site, donation messages, and download protections. Some of these download managers locked certain features behind a paywall that required users to pay in order to gain access. The use of Myrient for commercial, for-profit purposes has always been strictly forbidden. Such egregious and abusive usage of the site cannot be tolerated anymore.

    • Rising RAM, SSD, and HDD prices: Since last September, RAM, SSD, and HDD prices have surged dramatically and continue to rise due to the ongoing extreme demand for Al datacenters. This has caused Myrient's hosting expenses to go up as well. Necessary upgrades to the storage and caching infrastructure only exacerbated the problem. With a large number of servers and the aforementioned existing monthly deficit in excess of $6000 out of pocket, there is no way to pay for the increased hosting and hardware upgrade costs.

    There are still many other smaller reasons, could go on and on about them, but nobody would want to read it.

    In short, I can no longer afford to run the site.
