  • Oh ffs, grow up. Nobody is downplaying the effects of mental health, just asking people to be reasonable. That's, however, anno 2025, too much to ask. Everyone exists in hyperbole and asinine takes.

PTSD is eminently treatable and manageable. It doesn't naturally degenerate, it sucks but you can live till you're old. Black lung, COPD are chronic, degenerative diseases that will eventually make you gasp for air till you die while your loved ones look on without being able to do anything.

This is beyond stupid, I don't know when we, as a civilisation, reached a point where people can't understand shades of grey anymore and live in absolutes only.

  • I hope not, i seriously hope not...

  • We can agree to disagree. We both agree Putin is a vile bastard. I think Bojo and any US candidate allowed to win a presidency are equally vile. You disagree on that point. It's ok if we agree to disagree.

What matters is now there's no turning back, the US is a hostile power as is Russia and Europe is finally, after years of exploitation, waking up to that fact.

  • Critically, Ukraine could still be part of the EU and be covered by the collective EU defense agreement. The concessions were object of negotiations. Negotiations don't kill people.

This war is AUKUS all over again, the yanks and Barries step in to disrupt any kind of peaceful agreement and reinforce enmity and conflict. The initial deal with France was meant to patrol the AU territorial waters, nuclear submarine capabilities is meant to be a provocation to China. Imagine China or Russia equipping Cuba with nuclear capabilities... Oh wait.

  • Every single one of the components of my comment are factual, I did not insult anyone, and gave pretty good advice, recommending a good game that a lot of people like. The way they are interpreted is not on me.

  • Is it though? In a world of limited time refunds, someone complains about something that is the exact ethos of a game, I tell them, probably not for you, play AC shadows, which is undoubtedly a good game for people who want a more accessible open world experience than KCD that is less demanding of your attention and less punishing of your time. Likely, in time for a full refund so they're not stuck with something they find obnoxious, but I'm the ass for telling someone not to stick to something they clearly don't like and get something more tailored to their taste. Maybe you should take your own advice, stick with me, ask me what I mean, go past whatever you interpreted my comment meant initially and see if it's better to have someone frustrated at a game or have them play something they will like better.

  • Wholeheartedly disagree, these are the same arguments levied against the souls games and yet, it's that opaqueness and steep learning curve that created such a tight knit and engrossing community. Arguably, some of the best games ever made.

  • Don't have to but highly advised to do so. It will contextualise significant parts of the background and character histories. The first one is also a masterpiece, so you should try it out and see if the game type is your cup of tea, with the benefit of a lower upfront investment. If you like it, when you're done with it, the second one may even be cheaper at the time and you get some more of that warhorse goodness.

  • When someone asks for QoL to not having to pay attention to dialogue when playing an immersive RPG, clearly, they should be playing a different game, i.e. Assassin's Creed Shadows, that happens to be really good.

  • Usually assholes are the ones calling names to random strangers.

  • That it's significantly less hazardous than coal mining and comparing it so doesn't do the discussion the problem needs any favours.

The researcher in question is part of an institution that is negotiating a 5y research tender renovation so they are just going with stupid shit like this.

  • Huh?

Ubi open worlds are more like avowed, better, but with QoL, which is what you asked for. KCD1&2 are not for you. Dunno why the downvotes.

  • Funny, it does transpire you're the one googling, otherwise you'd know that the research at Weizenbaum doesn't exist in a vacuum and can't confer degrees, that's why it partnered with universities (much like institutions like the HZI). This charm operation from researchers like the aforementioned one is happening because 2025 is the renovation year for the 5year funding of the Weisenbaum, so it's time to exaggerate the problems since if the trend continues the funding will be even lower this year. (50M in 2017, 36 in 2022) Clearly, you're out of your depth when concerning how public research is conducted and more importantly, funded.

  • It's hyperloop V2

  • This game is not for you then. It's OK, you can play something else, like a Ubisoft open world game. They have a dynamic world but also markers for everything so you can button through dialogue. The story is also much simpler than KCD so you don't have to pay attention. Characters are also quite one dimensional, it's easy to follow, much like Avowed. Highly advise AC shadows or Mirage.

  • The worst of all this is that from the top of our heads we came up with a woman and three black dudes. Other than Madoff I don't remember any white dude getting any deserved retribution other than the recent United Healthcare CEO.

  • I too want to board the schadenfreude train. Choo choo. Fuck u/spez

  • I just mentioned the affiliation of her published work and the several works cited as funded by the federal ministry of education and research... If anything you're actually strengthening my point, this type of exaggeration is a charm operation rather than a call for corrective measures.

Edit: TIL that DAIR, is more relevant than TUB... Ok, I guess, to each their own. Love the exceptionalism of comparing a centennial research university to a 2021 US american initiative.

    Grifters gonna grift.
