Notorious Lemmy outlaw. Still post under this account, but these days I mostly post from alt names from my own private personal instances and VPNs. Or do people just say I do that? Truth? Or lies? I never respected your authority. Never will. I’ll keep saying whatever the fuck I want, wherever I want. You’ll never know my alt names, never know my servers, and never silence me. I'm everywhere. Or am I? Who knows? Cope and seethe, authoritarians. I'm never leaving the fediverse! hahahahahahahahahaha

  • I'm not sure what that means.

  • Not defensive at all. But you legit started the thread by asking, "So, we are gonna put the ruling class in jail for 4 years per 14m they steal from the people too, right? …right?"

And I was wondering if you thought that was ever going to happen. You brought it up, so I asked you about it.

  • Exactly. So do you think that's going to happen anytime soon?

  • Has that happened yet, under any administration ever?

  • Thank you!

  • Honestly, I’m getting more and more militant about open source.

Me too. It all started when I switched to Linux...lol

I'm very close to biting the bullet and getting a cheap Linux phone.

  • I’ll still be able to talk to other mesh users.

But you have to have other friends that you know who are mesh users, correct? It's not like you can just go on and find people who you can communicate with, right? Or wrong? I want to use this and I want it to be a thing, but I don't have one person I know who would be interested in doing this with me! lol

I live in a US city of half a million people, is there a use case for this or do you think it's mostly for rural use?

  • Yay! I hope Lemmy can grow out of the political fighting and shine bright. We're all gonna make it thru just fine, friend.

  • Hey, friend, no worries. What you'll find out here is that Lemmy is much much more extreme in their viewpoints. Lemmy seems to attract people who are inclined to be more obsessive on certain things, than the general public. So on here, you'll notice that when someone gets angry at someone, they do NOT let it drop.

Many will follow ya around and just talk shit about you forever if you disagreed with them in the past.

So my fanclub likes to jump in a lot of newbie posts and say, "block UniversalMonk first!!" Not because it's good advice, but because they don't like me. There are more posts about me, than posts by me. lolololol

But if ya look at my post history, I pretty much just stick to the little communities I manage. And you won't find anything controversial. Just some extreme reactions to it. Ask the angry people to be specific about why they are mad at me, and they never have an answer except that they bizarrely think I am pro-Trump, even tho I didn't vote for him and the vast majority of my articles I post are anti-Trump. LMAO

To be honest, I'm like you and not that into politics. One of the more disappointing things about Lemmy for me is how many people revert to politics every single thread and post. It's annoying. I think that Lemmy having being so obsessed about political talk will actually doom it. Lemmy is never gonna be popular.

Too much politics. Too much anger. Too much obsessive stalker-types.

I try to do my part to help Lemmy grow, but even when I post something non-political, like about science, or education or something, people like to jump in and say variations of "Fuck you! You ruined the US!" lolol As if the 100 people who post regularly on Lemmy can change anything about society. lololol

I still love the idea of non-centralized stuff, the federation, etc. But the crowd on Lemmy is to obsessive-compulsive to allow it to grow.

You and me are actually more alike, than we are different. Let me know how things turn out for you and if you can find enough non-political content to keep ya here.

  • but I don’t like news. It’s stressful, annoying, confusing, etc.

So you don't like news, and that made you decide to tell people to block me?! Ok.... Um, what about the other people who post a lot more news than me? Most of the news I post is pro-socialist news. You can just admit you don't like socialism. But to tell people to block me because of it, is hilarious.

So now I have advice for newcomers: Guys, ya'll should block Camille_Jamal. He doesn't like news about socialism.

    See how that works?

  • to be clear: block universal monk

For sure. I'm terrible because I post so many articles promoting third parties, socialism, and anarchy!

  • Yeah, I was surprised someone hadn't heard of Pioneer. It was everywhere when I was growing up. Sucks getting old, friends!

  • Thank you! I don't know how I missed it. I looked that sidebar up and down and didn't notice it first time I looked, but there it is, nice and bright red! lol

  • Thanks for this. It's a great read. I love how his name is Wagenius! Same as me, but I'm not related. Not that I know of anyway. I just sent my mom a text asking her if we are related to this dude! lmao

  • Admiral Patrick, is shutting down their lemmy instance dubvee in part due to patterns of people assuming bad faith in online discourse.

Looks like he left early too. It was said that he was leaving July 31st, but the dubvee instance is no longer loading as of right now. It totally sucks that Lemmy ran him off. We need more like him on here!

Having said that, I feel the same way you do in your comments. People are being too mean on here lately.

  • yt next?

  • I moved to peertube, but wow, it's not a super easy transition when it comes to posting stuff.

Maybe it's just me, but the UI is definitely wonky and not very intuitive. Took me a bit to figure out how to post.

I plan to really go big with posting soon, so maybe I can make the workflow faster.

  • Good point! I forgot where I was for a sec.
