  • I mean... I've seen more people saying that phrase, than tankies in my local feed, and I've seen some memes that looked like imperialist propaganda on the Lefty memes community being downvoted to hell, there are some tankies, but I still consider this instance an Anarchists one rather than one overtaken by Tankies.

  • In dbzer0 defederations are rare, we had a community vote months ago to deferate from hexbear because of their bad moderation and the result was not doing it, the philosophy here usually is that if you don't like some content or community, just block them.

  • They are aware of it, that's why they are busy spending it.

  • This also happens to me, using the Smarttube flatpak, I think that it's a "feature" from the youtube tv original app, and it bleeds into Smarttube because what it does is faking being the original youtube tv app with some extra modifications.

Edit, I am using VacuumTube from flatpak, not Smarttube, but it's the same concept.

  • I think that's an strawman, you are comparing a technology to human rights, it's not exactly an apples to apples comparative.

  • I'm just rewriting everything in Ansible and I think is worth the effort, it's self-documented and as an added bonus I won't have to keep backups of the whole VMs, just the ZFS pool with the data/databases.

  • This might not work for you, but at one point I had three HDDs running all the time in my small apartment. What I did to keep my sanity was set up a schedule in qBittorrent so that it completely stopped at night and used most of my bandwidth the rest of the day. I also recommend setting up permanent seeding with Hardlinks and auto-deletion when it reaches a certain ratio (this may differ based on how popular your torrents are). In my case, it was 10:1.

  • Yes, it's all right there but at the same time a lot of information/work, if you could divide it and expand in specific parts with more proof and data in multiple blog posts, I would consider it informative journalism.

  • That's a lot of information, and really scary. Not knowing that a company as big and invasive as Genetec existed and at the same time only knowing about them because of Flocks fuck ups... doesn't really give me hope, most of the people won't know about them and even if they do, Genetec can just lay low while the US people fight against Flock surveillance.

  • Based on the TRaSH Guides, x264 is better for 1080p content and x265 is only worth it for 2160p and above. But I don't know how they would compare in the case of 720p x264 vs 1080p x265. I think I would prefer 720p x264 if it had a higher bit rate.

  • Cryptography (math) papers, are, in fact, the source of all truth.

If you don't like crypto it's okay, but don't spread undocumented fear.

  • That's a great point and you are right, most people don't know/don't care about the technical differences

  • Exactly

  • "AI" is not just LLMs or diffusion models, and that's what I think OPs is about, like, do you also hate Stockfish? Or enemies in a videogame?

  • At the moment we do not know if they will do it or not

  • From ElMundo:

Regarding the information published by the newspaper El Mundo under the title “The Government recedes and authorizes Defense to buy technology from Israel for its rearmament plan”, the Ministry of Industry clarifies: 1. That the Royal Decree referred to in the information has not been approved today in the Council of Ministers, as the media assures. This Royal Decree is in the phase of hearing and public information, whose term to present allegations covers from Thursday, July 3, 2025 until Wednesday, July 23, 2025, which in itself prevents its approval in the Council of Ministers. It can be consulted at https://industria.gob.es/eses/participacion_publica/Paginas/DetalleParticipacionPublica.aspx?k=73

1.2. The purpose of this Royal Decree is to initiate a process of granting loans for programs in which the Ministry of Defense has not yet identified the contractor. The information in El Mundo deliberately ignores the part of the text of the Royal Decree in which it is stated that “The Ministry of Defense is currently finalizing the process of determining the companies that will develop the programs object of this Royal Decree” (sic).

    1. Regarding the SCRT Program, the statement in the Royal Decree that “the national industry does not currently have sufficient capacity for the manufacture and supply of the required systems” does not imply, in any case, that this material will be purchased from Israel. In this regard, the Government of Spain reiterates its commitment not to make arms purchases from Israel.

    1. Likewise, it is also not true, as the news claims, that in order to acquire this capability it is necessary “to make a transfer of technology from the Israeli Elbit System to Spain”. This interpretation is totally unfounded. In any case, it will be up to the Ministry of Defense to determine, with funding from the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, the contractor to provide this equipment.
