  • The Rifleman. A good old campy western series about a man and his son. I would love a modern neo-western re-imagining, but with the same father-son lessons on character and human dignity.

  • Unfortunately Trump currently represents our country on the international stage. Hard to say we arent responsible when we elected this jackass twice.

  • I wish bipartisanship in this country didnt mean kowtowing to corruption so conservatives will like you.

  • Fair enough, thanks for the elaboration.

  • Not sure you needed to repeat information from the first sentence of the post but no harm I guess.

  • Conservatives are such heartless ghouls. There is nothing they wont arrest and torture women over.

  • Are we still using the "I had to support fascism to save palestine" lie?

Like does Palestine look saved to you? Does the fact that you helped murder those Iranian children not weigh on your conscience. How long until some of you admit you got conned by obvious propaganda?

  • Absolutely insane European governments are inviting these lunatics into their country and into critical data systems.

  • I love petty, minimal stakes gambling. House poker. Prop bets with my coworkers. Sometimes I do squares for big games, brackets or pick ems for tourneys/leagues. Im spending 5, 10 or rarely 20 bucks on a fun activity with people. Its fun to do at work, while drinking, having a smoke, or just walking down the street.

I think gambling addiction is a serious problem and casinos need much heavier regulation with funding for addiction healthcare coming from their profits. I also dont support eliminating any native casinos in the US unless they are repaid by the federal government for breaking our original treaty obligations with these tribes and seizing their land. Its disgusting to keep taking from the tribes without giving any of equal value back.

  • Some sure, but not everyone. It took a hit during the Bush years, but the Trump administration has eradicated anyone except lunatic conservatives trying to betray their own country for a taste of power.

  • I think thats a somewhat fair take, but its definitely not a system dominated by the monarch. The ruling political and economic classes are in the drivers seat.

  • I cannot wait to be rid of this dishonest jackass. Dude was always blood thirsty and corrupt but masqueraded as a progressive and now the brain damage has him dancing for republican bribes. I really hope voters hold him responsible for this betrayal. They didnt hold him responsible for his abuses of power in the past, but I think the tide may have turned for him. Too bad these Senate terms are so long.

  • Before people trusted us to honor important parts of our commitments. Now people expect the worst from us in nearly everything. We lit an assload of soft power on fire and it will likely contribute to our "downfall" from global hegemon to competing great power. Silver lining is that a lot of the wealth we've skimmed off the top of the global economy for decades will now start going back to our allies and industrially underdeveloped parts of the world held hostage by our dominant military and economic position.

  • The House of Lords appointment process is bizarre. Parties sell the seats to political donors, the church still seats lords and the monarch has influence but not control over the process. They also just reformed out the last hereditary peers. Its not entirely democratic but not that monarchist either. Its probably best described as an oligarchist institution imo.

The House of Lords Appointments Commission was established in 2000. It is independent and separate from the House of Lords. The Appointments Commission recommends individuals for appointment as non-party-political life peers. It also vets nominations for all life peers, including those recommended by the UK political parties, to ensure the highest standards of propriety. Members can be suggested by the public and political parties. Once approved by the prime minister, appointments are formalised by the King.

  • This is exactly why Republicans are so desperate to interfere with the elections.
