  • What features do you like? Not trying to convince you, I'm just curious.

  • I didn't try any of them because I additionally set up Navidrome to handle my music collection. But Fintunes, Jamfish and Finamp all look like great music players.

  • Second hand Dell Wyse 5070 ThinClient with DietPi. Add an external drive, install some software from the menu and you're good to go.

  • I tinkered for years with numerous Raspberry Pies but got tired of it. Bought a second hand Dell ThinClient Wyse 5070 for like 70€, installed DietPi and its awesome.

  • I installed ublue Aurora, an immutable distro that comes with an optional surface kernel as well. Rally like it so far.

  • It's not about me having a problem, but turning away or excluding people or even businesses that are used to more mature or serious names. WLBR is not great, in my humble opinion. On the other hand, I'm not very passionate about this topic as long as the software itself serves me well. And it does.

  • I'm using second hand panels I got for free. They are 25 years old, made in Germany and they are still at +95% health. They produce 255 Kw per panel, modern panels are twice as efficient. But still, this is pretty impressive.

  • Energy supplier hate this, because the sun shines on every roof. They can't sell us their product anymore. And petro-men hate this as well, because their business model is collapsing. That's why they are shrieking so loud.

  • Everyone should! Let's all book trips to the place with no humans and look at it, so we can take pictures and tell more people about it. It's so calming and relaxing, we should go there more often. Maybe someone could sell some merch...

  • Stop pressuring me, you're not my grandma!

Straight talk: Happy news about the future of energy

  • I need to talk about Ed. First, I love this guy. He is doing great things for veganism, I trust him too be genuine and I learned a lot listening to him.Just, a couple years ago I started noticing that he is looking more feminine and I can't get this thought out of my head. What it he's feeling a little transgender but he can never come out because every edgy omni on the planet would laugh at him as a real life soy boy-meme.Again, I don't judge and don't care about Eds gender at all. I wish him very well. Did he address any of this somewhere?

  • Flatpak and Docker are great, but making them talk to each other can get as complex as solving the problems they came to make easier in the first place.

  • I like GIMP for what it is. Yet I feel like you're right. A different name and a more serious logo would be good for a more professional (corporate, boring) audience. It's duck s powerful tool, but it doesn't sound nor look like it.

  • Here's a study about battery health. Bottom line is, charging from 0% to 100% gives you 500 life cycles until it's at 70% health. Charging from 20% to 70% gives you 6.000 life cycles. That's is a huge difference and you should keep that in mind.

I don't know how low temperatures affect battery health. But ask around, aren't EVs super popular in Finland?

  • Things that have multiple answers like "what are good Scifi books" or "how do I write fizz buzz in c" send me to other sites.

Problem is that a casual search is already impossible because the internet is already an AI wasteland. There is mostly Reddit, Wikipedia and forums left to look for real answers. Everything else is already pages after pages of AI slob. I'm not gonna wade through this. So it's "reddit best scifi books" or I just get the AI result and take it to Wikipedia.

  • Nearly all cars I tried had SOH over 90%. The car I bought is from 2021 and has 94,9% battery health. Buy a 25€ OBD2-dongle and read it when you test-drive it. If the owner cared just a little, battery health is not a problem. Don't let fossil disinformation scare you.

  • I don't know anything about the situation in the US, but you get great second hand EVs for around 12.000€ here in Germany. Combustion is cheaper to buy but gets more expensive over time. It has over 250 moving parts, EVs have like 7.
